Drove past BP today to discover that it has closed. There has been news headlines for a while now about the land being sold to build houses but now the course has closed.

Such a shame to see the fairways and greens slowly becoming overgrown. It was a course i liked playing, a good challenge.

I knew it as going but did not realise it had gone . Was looking to play it again in the next few weeks.

I didnt know it has gone either. Played there at the beginning of April. I found a Daily Echo article that said memberships were terminated in April and it was a pay and play course until the end of April.

Blimey, used to play there a lot! Real shame

Mate of mine was a member there years ago, and I played it quite a lot. Not a great course to be honest. Wasn't it designed by Ewen Murray, and Tim Barter was the teaching Pro there ?

Loads of courses in the area, new one coming at the cricket right?

I never played it, it was not far from where I lived.

All these Hampshire/Southampton threads are bringing back so many memories of my years living in Hampshire and playing at South Winch.

Opening next summer apparently. It looks good in paper but they are attempting to squeeze it in a small area so that should be interesting. As you say, there's plenty of competition around so it'll be interesting to see the price of green fees etc as it will be the closest course to where i live, probably on 10 mins in the car.
