Caught up with the Spider Shepard novels now. With not call muting by train a fell behind in a lot of the novel series’s I am reading.
Should get one more (John Milton) done by the time we fly home.

No sure if it's been mentioned before but i'm not browsing back through 32 pages to find out. If you like golf, contemporary fiction and a real laugh then The Amateurs by John Niven is a winner. Some will find it offensive, some will find it ridiculous but for pure escapism and laugh out loudness then it's worth a read.

Still deep in Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina - approaching 500 pages in. Taking my time as really enjoying it, and keeping track of the ‘who’s who’ of it is a real challenge.

Picked up Kipling’s Kim from Oxfam Bookshop in town during the week…it might just sneak into the ‘read next’ list once I’m done with Tolstoy and a couple of Alexander McCall Smith Scotland Street books.

Bob Mortimer, The Satsuma Complex. It's similar to Richard Osman books and you can almost hear Bob Mortimer speaking the lines. It is very him. It isn't going to win prizes but it is a very easy way to pass the time.

Finished this last night. His turn of phrase made me chuckle on a fair few occasions. You almost read it in his voice. Really enjoyed it.

The Specialist by Charles Sale.

A 20 page (including illustrations) gem from 1930 in which a carpenter who considers himself to be a specialist (hence the title of the book) in the build of privies, describes his philosophy behind the siting, design and construction of any specific privy. Curious? You bet it is. But actually it’s a lovely and humerous little insight into the nature of a rather essential aspect of the human condition…?
