Has anyone else had issues making a booking at the Belfry recently?

Called the number on the website last week to get a quote for a nights accommodation, a round on the Brabazon and a round on the PGA. It took 30 minutes and I spoke to 5 different people (some more than once).

Today I've called up to book it and I've had a worse experience. The number on the website (that I called the first time) put me through to the Belfry, they transferred me to Devere central reservations, after holding for 6 minutes someone answered, they told me I had to call another number. Called that and that put me back through to the same girl that put me through to central reservations in the first place. She has taken my details and said someone will call me back on Monday.

They must be loosing a fortune, I was looking to boom 3 rooms for 6 of us that will spend more than our ( and a few other people's) fair share in the bars whilst we're there. On top of that I was going to see if I could fit in a driver and iron fitting at the same time.

Come on, this is your business get a grip Belfry / Devere!!

Yep they are crap over the phone. Do you live close by? If so drop in and you will get it sorted

You will love the fitting centre though if you haven't already been fit there before.

its worse for us members. residents can book 6 months in advance and members can only book 2 weeks in advnace. as a result the pga is full and can never get on.

the reason for not getting though is the staff have all left and as devere are now managing the belfry they have decided not to replace the staff. when booking inn the staff are that busy they just let the phone ring. online booking will be available from the end of next week (thank god)

I played there last Tuesday and was very shocked by the lack of dress code that was enforced! There were people playing the course in combat/cargo shorts, and with t shirts untucked!! Very surprised tbh!

there was a bloke wearing a lions rugby shirt this week. Money, money and more money talks for devere

Oh dear, don't let the dress code police on here read this. I'm not surprised at your problems as a good friend of mine had similar issues trying to book a round for his 50th for him and his dad. He was having nightmares finding anyone able to make a booking and I have a feeling they buggered off and went somewhere else. He wanted the full custom fitting experience, rounds on all the courses and I think their wives were going for the full beauty experiences at the health club. Add in their dinner and drink costs and a huge packet went down the motorway

Very disappointed with my experience there tbh! I have emailed them with regard to the poor dress code, but have not yet received anything back.

It was probably me with the un-tucked shirt :whoo:

I love the place and wouldn't move for anything. I could see how a golf snob may be offended as an untucked shirt to your type is like a nun having a number 2 on the church garden.

How does others clothing impact on your day. Once your out playing whats the bother?

Its not that it bothered me, its just the attitude from the club. Its supposed to be an historic Ryder Cup venue, and I was just a little disappointed that I had abided with the dress code, likewise my playing partner, and then you have other people that just stroll up in what they want.

You might want to call me old fashioned, but I am 21 and have been shown how to conduct myself on a golf course since I started playing at a municipal course at the age of 10. For me, I have always stuck to the courses' dress code , whether it be a municipal or a private members course.

I also wear nothing but golf intended clothing but I do like the shirt un-tucked as did the Belfry membership advisor who was playing in-front of us today.

Perhaps its a new trend. If it makes me play better, I might try it! ;)

It's just one of them things. Like football some football players tuck some dont. If my shirt hung to my knees I'd probably tuck it in but mine sit at a level where they still look smart. I think bright orange trousers with lime green swirls look crap but they are allowed.

Hovis, I wouldn't stress to much about it being busy as unless they sort out the customer service issues it won't be busy for long.

The last time we played there the starter wouldn't let one of our group tee off as he had his shirt untucked. I
To be honest if you're wearing proper golf attire I can't see what the problem is if you're shirt us untucked or not.

Anyway, between the 6 of us we would likely spend a few thousand quid over the course of a weekend and on a Saturday they are not capable of taking a booking. I find that totally bemusing.

So what i'm getting from all this is to book through someone like your golf travel. Looking at booking up for next May time for my old mans birthday but can't be dealing with idiots over the phone transferring me from pillar to post
