Hi,

anyone know any good websites for booking Golf breaks, A friend and I have made it our mission to play at least 1 top course a year and I was wondering if there were any decent websites in regards to booking a round + accom.
Also what courses would members of the forum want to play ? I am not offering to pay but wondered what your top 5 would be in this country ?

Cheers

Midnight...

Golfbreaks.com or yourgolftravel are probably the best for places that have onsite accommodation but find out what price they can do then ring direct and see if they will better it or match it. 99% of the time they will because they would rather take all the money than have to pay some to the middle man.....you'll probably get a better room/service when you get there too.....

Otherwise if no onsite accomm - just go through the golf club as they have 'prefferred' places to stay where you'll get better rates and looked after well and you'll know they're ok...

My top 5:

Castletown - IOM
Hunstanton and Brancaster
Woodhall Spa
Saunton
Sandwich/Deal

Book it yourself, it will be a heck of a lot cheaper!
Nice cosy little B&B (you only want to sleep there) and you are not paying a "middle man"...

Carnoustie (Scotland)
Hunstanton (Norfolk)
St Mellion (Cornwall)
Blairgowrie (Rosemount) Scotland
Celtic Manor (Wales) but play it in the Summer, it will be like a bog otherwise!!

I've played 2 out of your top five. Infact I played The Forest of Arden on the 17th last month (just a pity it was so wet underfoot). St Mellion is just down the road from me, (about an hour) I played it about 6-7 years ago now, I do belive they have secured the English Open for the next 3 years, so if anyones going to watch some golf, let me know and I'll try and join you.

I couldn't pick just five.
just off the top of my head here are a few that I WILL play, not necesarily in 2009 though

Woodhall Spa
Belfry (Brabazon)
Forest of Arden
Wentworth
Lytham
St Mellion
Celtic Manor
Adair Manor
Muirfield
Turnberry
Old Course
Gleneagles

I figure if I always have a dozen on the wish list it will keep me motivated so when I scratch one off, I will add another, I reckon there are at least another 40 to add to it
