Final Q of the year on Saturday,

trebled the 1st hole, bogeyed the 2nd - great start.

Standing on the 18th tee, i've got it back to 1 over par. Middle of the fairway, 145yds left in - walk off with a double bogey 6.

Lost the competition by 2 shots, also missed out on ending the year off 3 by 2 shots!!

Golf is so frustrating sometimes.

It happens to us all.
Camberley a few years ago, I started bogey, double bogey. Got it back to -2 on the 18th..........double bogey

Last Medal of year Sat. Had a triple on 4th (thought ball lost from 2nd shot when it was in fact sitting just off back of green and less than 15ft from hole - just didn't look). But held it together to do front 9 in 6 over.

Back 9 had a horrible quintuple 10 on 11th - but again pretty much held it together to do back 9 in 9 over.

And given adjustments for the 7 and the 10, I ended up in the buffer.

Without the triple and the quintuple I'd have been a tidy 7 over - 3 under h/cap and cut to single figures - aaah - if only...:)

Golf frustrating - oh yes.

I have started with a birdie and eagled the 18th at my place in the same round!! Scored 27 points. Does that count??

Last qualifier on Saturday last. Start with three bogeys on the first three holes which is acceptable since 2&3 are tough long par 4's which I can hardly reach in 2. Then out of the blue 5 good pars on the trot to be standing on the par 5 9th tee 3 over par - which is nice for a 13 handicapper. Drive OOB, reload ok, 4th into fairway bunker , take medicine and hack out fifth, punt up the fairway to 150 yard out for six, 7th a foot short and rolls back off the green, pitch on a two putts for a 10 --- aargh. :o

Then normal service resumed and managed to hold it together for a net 73, which with the 10 reduced to 8 on stableford reduction meant adj nett 71 and one under CSS for a wee 0.3 cut. So happy bunny on one count but oh what could have been......

I leave my course pretty much every time saying 'what could have been' especially when i have a good round!! funnily enough, my best round of the year was the only time i sat in the car and thought 'that was the absolute best i could have shot today'

Walked off our 16th green 2 years ago one over gross playing off 13 and having the round of my life.

Then finished 8 (par 3!!) 6 (par 4) for a very good 8 over gross but what a nightmare finish!

There's no game quite like golf for putting you in your place.

True, we are also good at overlooking/forgetting the good luck that befalls us when totting up the balance of woe in the shower, e.g. that 40ft putt that dropped, or the members bounce onto the green.

Almost a mirror of my round excepting my 7 - which - but for a little bit more care and time looking for my ball would probably have been 4 - and a nett level par. I'm guessing the CSSS will be +1 so a nett 1-under. But not to be oh foolish me.

Had too many bad finishes over the years. Nothing you can do but try and see the good stuff you played. Losing out on a win is always the most annoying bit in my mind as it's not that often I play myself into contention

Just played PGA Centenary at Gleneagles last week with a good friend and was captain for the past 2 yrs. we played off the whites, 6,800 yds nearly 400 more then my home course, I'm 3 under gross after 3 holes, double 8, birdie 9, bogey 10, bogie 13&15, eagle 16 for a 1 under gross score........well happy. Go play 9 holes on Saturday and loose 3 balls, play 9 holes today loose another ball..........

Dont get it......
