I have no time whatsoever for this class-less red neck freak.

I didnt care for him much before the Ryder Cup, but his "horse riding" of the driver antics last year just made me want to punch him until he was really hurt.

And now, he comes out with this pearler and it makes me dislike him even more, if thats possible.

There are thousands of golfers all over the world that would give their right arm, well, maybe not arm but you know what I mean, to be in his situation and he treats his golfing skills as a 2nd class thing that is an annoyance keeping him from his bloody hunting & fishing.

Well I for one would love him to retire right now and never show his face on a golf course ever again, golf will not miss him

I thought the "horse riding" of the driver was excellent, in fact I wish we had more characters in the game like this. Same as poulter b!tching to a make believe camera man, i loved it.

The only thing that annoys me is the american fans shouting "Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo".

As for the other comments, if i was a lawyer i'd only be doing it to make enough money to retire early and play loads of golf.

Can't agree.

I really like the guy, there was a tremedously funny and forthright interview with him in Golf World a few months ago. I don't tend to read player interviews but his was a must.
He's a breath of fresh air. He's honest and tells it like it is. He is a redneck but that's part of the charm as far as I'm concerned. It's like a Beverly hillbilly on the PGA tour instead of the bog standard US college trained automatons.
Individuals in sport such as Boo are a dying breed. Shame that.

Tour life looks glamorous to us amateurs but apart from the money that can be made but only if you're any good, you're constantly at the airport, living in hotels, doing press conferences, trying to practice etc etc. By 40 you're bound to tire of it and want to spend time with friends and family. He loves hunting and fishing, nothing wrong with that. I respect him for saying he'd rather do what he enjoys once he's made enough to keep his family financially secure.

His riding the bull antics were brilliant, lightened the tension at RC. For those that haven't seen it, the bull riding was copied from Happy Gilmore, a silly golf comedy movie starring Adam Sandler.

Leave Boo alone, he's a star.

I know what you're saying minty, but who gets into golf as a job?

Golfers play golf because they love the game, you're not seriously telling me that Boo took hold of a golf club one day when he wasnt wresting aligators or skinning an anaconda, and thought to himself "you know what, I could make a living out of this"?

I'll be honest and say I dont know the answer to either of these questions. Would we be bothered if his past time was caring for the elderly and thats what he planned to do when he retired?

Great thread by the way, its been a slow day on here.

I agree with Birdieman. He (Boo) is a character, and all sport needs characters. So he wants to quit work and do something he enjoys, well, wouldn't you given half a chance. Golf is his job, he doesn't have to (and clearly doesn't) enjoy it. All the travelling and hotels must play heck with your familly and friends. Who would want to spend that amount of time away? Yes, the rewards are huge for those good enough (and he is), but the money has to be a means to an end surely.

The life of a tour pro is not one I would aspire to.

The only thing is, I would happily ban hunting and fishing, as I don't believe anyone should be allowed to get their kicks by torturing and/or killing animals. It just doesn't sit right with me.

The life of a tour pro is not one I would aspire to.

What? I wouldnt aspire to a tour pro who is struggling to keep his card but one of the big earners, wow what a life.

About to Ross Fishers position would suit me just nice.

The life of a tour pro is not one I would aspire to.

Fair point I suppose, but there is no way on earth I would give up the chance to be a tour pro to do what i'm doing now!!

What with private jets, big mansions, not worrying where you're going to find the cash to pay that council tax bill that has just come through the letter box.

For sure, there are a million reasons why i'd love to be a tour pro!!!

If I'd had anything that could help me retire by 42, you'd be damn sure I'd have done it to death to make sure that I could retire at 42, if that was Golf or whatever !!

I dont like him particularly, but fair play to him to freely admit that he just does it for the money, who wouldnt if they were that talented ?

His Hunting just makes me dislike him even more.

I have to say I see nothing wrong with his comments apart from my dislike of hunting. What's wrong with being honest and saying "you know what, I've made a good living out of something I was lucky enough to get into but it ain't the be all and end all and I've made my money and I'm off"

I think it makes a refreshing change for someone to come out and be upfront.

I must admit that people see him in a differnet light however my opinion on him is that he is a male reproductive organ!

An i would rather go play golf with Brown and Darling than this pratt!

And as for this im going to retire gobbledy gook... It bugs me this always bugs me... Take ronnie o'sullivan arugably the most talented sports man on the planet... and hes always banging on about quiting yet never does!

If its a ploy to gain sympathy of fans it aint worked here!!

I like him... because he's different! He's a dam good golfer and i reckon that's more than enough to rear the head of jealousy from a few people. so what if he wants to retire by the age 42... who wouldn't want to do that?

When he says he'll put his clubs away, i'm sure he means from the pro tour - not like, forever!

There is a big difference between the 'be all & end all' and disliking the position that you're in that millions of people would kill for.

He should keep his mouth shut and respect the talent that he undoubtedly has instead of brushing it off as a nuisance.

The guy is what American golf needs ,most of the PGA Tour is faceless guys who hide behind hats and sunglasses most would never recognise them without it, yes he's a redneck but the guy can play ,anyone who can win back to back at Harbour Town Links can play thats for sure.

Re Murphthemog's ban fishing/hunting post -
I enjoy a bit of fishing now and again - boat, loch full of rainbow trout, bag of beers over the side, sunny day.

I hope no-one on here would hold that against me? I'd be taking home what I caught to eat, even though I'd still enjoy catching them.

Does that make me and 7 million other UK anglers monsters? :(

Agree with this 100%!!!!
I can't stand that idiot or his redneck mate JB Holmes.

If brains were gun powder these two wouldn't have enough to blow there noses.

................and breath.
