So I don't get to watch much Wendyball these days but seen as it was on terrestrial telly, I switched on the cup game.

Just saw a Bolton player blatantly dive to win a penalty. Pathetic. Really pathetic.

No doubt some armchair genius on here will come on and say "there was contact", "he had a right to go down" or "he gave the referee a decision to make". Don't bother, you're wrong.

Call it whatever you like but it wasn't a foul, it is cheating and I've now switched it off.

Football really is the pits.

You should get involved on the other football thread Snelly.

I'd actually pay to view that! !

He did. His voice was lost in a sea of professional football posters.

I can't watch it anymore. I've no connection with the players, and their antics (which are copied by kids and grow ups) are embarrassing :o

Yeah but Snelly if you look closely there was contact and he was entitled to go down. Once he went down he gave the referee a decision to make. :D

I think the funnier "foul" was when a Bolton player shoulder barged Lallana and WON the free kick!
Ref did okay to start with but then made some laughable decisions.

Get a grip and stop fishing.

Mods should merge this with the football thread that the attention seeker has miracously chosen to ignore. Sorry, I mean miss...

Makes you wonder how he spotted such little contact for the penalty, doesn't it...

Dive my arse, he was in on goal. Yes the contact was minimal but that's all it takes at the speed of modern football. He just came down on Zach's toes but that constitutes a trip....which means a penalty. I don't like the phrase "he was entitled to go down" and in this case I really didn't think he did that.....he was tripped up. As a defender in my playing days, before yellow/red cards it was surprising hew little contact you could make to send that winger clattering to the ground. I said penalty straight away and no amount of replays make me think it was a dive. Your agenda is clear from the rest of your post and your lack of knowledge of football shines through.

PS Oh, have I been hooked lol :-)

PPS Best team won.

Watch the incident again, it was never a pen.

Would you have agreed if it had been down the other end?

Didn't think it was a penalty in real time, but in a slow motion I would give it 9.8 for artistic impression.

Clough reminded me of Stan Cummins. hopefully his size will not hold him back, and he will learn to stay on his feet.

You're clearly an expert. Obviously played to a much higher standard than me and have a clear, unbiased view. Perfect vision to see things so brilliantly.

Just make sure you don't brush your teeth with your pile ointment tonight before you curl up under your Stevie G duvet.

I could watch it a thousand times an yes, it's a stonewall pen at either end. It honestly beggars belief how little knowledge of the game there is on here. Still, opinions are what it's all about I suppose and one of the attractions of football.

Given your analysis then probably, yes.....school first team :D

Just had a look at the replay - dont understand why he went down when he was clear and the touch was very very very slight if anything

Guess by letter of the law there is a touch so is a penalty but it really shoudlnt be

I find this one hard. Real time I felt it was a pen, so cannot argue with the decision. It was only really after 3 or 4 replays convinced me it wasn't. Was it a dive? Yeah probably. Had the incident happened for us, would I want the penno? Yeah probably.

maybe I'm whats wrong with modern football
