Bogey comp

In a bogey comp, you basically play against the course, you take your shots based on the stroke index and if your net score is par the hole is halved, if you beat par you win the hole, if you are over par you lose the hole. at the end of the round you will end up with a score against par maybe -1 or level or plus 1 etc. Best score against par wins.

It's a matchplay comp against the course, the course scores par on every hole and if you beat par (nett) you win a hole scored as +1 If you get a nett par a 0 is recorded and a nett bogey or worse is a -1 overall score added and I reckon anything around +4 would be in contention in most comps

Be careful in these comps!

As they are now generally off full handicap, they are likely to be qualifying comps. And they are Strokeplay comps against the course. So don't pick up if you fail to 'halve' the hole, as that 1-pointer still counts for handicap!

Personally don't agree with them being qualifying comps (as strategy is different too), but wtf!

It's an event where you put two great rounds together and post a score that would have won the event over the last 6 years and watch someone shoot +2 more in their 2nd round than you managed in the whole event. Despite shooting a personal best gross score for the front nine and getting cut you end up 2nd. Bitter - twisted - Damn straight
