Playing a round on a buggy.

Is it lazy golf?

I suppose there are pros and cons to hiring a buggy. Perhaps it allows elderly or disabled golfers to enjoy an otherwise difficult sport.

Many courses have buggy tracks which mean if your ball doesn't land near them entails a walk to your ball!!! I know some Neanderthals have no regard for the course and see a buggy as a leg replacement which can be seen as an excuse to drive anywhere on the course.

I prefer to walk round as I think you get a better feel of the course such as shot distance, terrain conditions etc.

Feel free to discuss.

Defo walking better, need and enjoy the exercise. Would only use a cart if it was very hot - Spain or Arizona etc

Do enjoy using a buggy but see it as pretty pointless, so rarely do. Certainly not at my home course. They're a god send for some people though.

Never really play well when in an buggy. Never seem to get any flow going as I dash between shots. Is good fun and as said, essential for some but generally not for me.

Only used a buggy once in this country. I found it disrupted both my and my partners games to the point where we each got out and walked at times. You get no feel for the ground.

I would ban buggies from society days; buggy = beer truck, careless, irresponsible, thoughtless driving, and slower games.

No good for high handicappers, well like me anyway, if you have a bad day, your in and out like a blue arse fly and if ya play with another high handicapper, chances are ya never gonna play shots from near each other so actually takes longer around.

i hate buggys, i enjoy the exercise, i also think they should be banned from competitions unless you have a doctors certificate stating you unfit to walk the miles

Will be buggying it in Florida next week. You have to have one, as sometimes the distance between holes is ridiculous. Doesn't do my golf any good though, and ruins your clubs when they rattle together.

I prefer walking the course as it provides exercise and I think it makes it easier to assess the next shot. I gives you time to calculate yardages, have a good look at the hole and decide on the next shot.

Never used one, and don’t think I ever will I enjoy the walk and slowly chatting with mates.

However, I really want a go on one of the two wheel things the golf cameramen use to get around, they look so much fun!

You refering to segways? If so, we have two of these in work we do patrols and respond to first aid's on.

Agreed, in hot and humid climates they are essential if for no other reason as to carry all the water you need. In Thailand it was compulsary on all of the courses I looked at.

Yes, those segways look so much fun! You could complete a round so quickly with a bag over your back. I reckon they are definitely the way forward.

why would you want to play your golf as quick htl
is your golf that much of a chore now mate that you want in and off as fast as you can?

I would prefere to walk on the course over any kind of transport! But in work those segways come in really handy, our centre is big! Segways would be great for Captains to get around the course should they need to when they aint playing.

No I love playing mate and aint shooting bad at moment so loving it.

I reckon they would come in real handy to get 9 holes in before the sun goes down, allow me to play 18+ holes pain free. They would be great like another post said for a rules person or captain to have one to fly around the course.

There is a guy at our place who has one.
I can see it would speed up play but only if you all got one,I would be breathing through my ears trying to jeep up on foot!!
Interestingly he is allowed out when buggies arent but trolleys are.
I would think that they cause as much damage as a buggy because the weight is all on 2 wheels while a buggy is spread over 4.

htl have you thought of an electric trolley,I have one but dont use it unless playing 36 and it does make a difference.

Going to Portugal soon and will be using buggy's there,it is essential in the midday sun.
