The BMW is usually one of the few that the BBC have...I heard whatsisname (Im not good with names today) who commentates on SKY mention today that they have got it this year.
Its on Sky ,BBC'S coverage of it was always pretty poor to many breaks for horse racing or whatever , Sky will hopefully give more coverage of the course.
I think you'll find coverage is being shared. I think its on Sky for the first two days and BBC have it over the weekend (according to my Golf News I picked up tonight)
my dad plays at wentworth every year on a golf day for bobby Moore and he said after the BMW at wentworth they are digging up all the greens does anyone know why ?
Apparently because they are cr.........sorry, not very good. Not up to the standard required for "top level" competition. Even our greens are better (according to one of my playing partners who plays Wentworth a few times a year).
That's right. They're not supposed to be very good when you compare them to other top courses. Apparently when they're done it will return the West Course to the standard it was.
Not that I'll ever know. Not at £285 a round at peak times and £115 in the middle of winter!!
I'm glad it's on Sky, at least it'll be a far better coverage than the bland crap BBC serve up!
Sam 'lovely drive' Torrance, bitter and twisted Peter 'i've had a letter from' Aliss and that boring Scottish bloke in the outside broadcast van won't be missed, although i do have a soft spot for Kenny Brown....but then he used to be part of the Sky team!
I've been lucky enough to play the West Course, i think cr.....er not very good, is a bit harsh!
I thought they were fantastic and very unusual too.
On the 18th you can look at the break of a putt from both ends and be satisfied with the line, putt it and it turns the other way!!! Now i don't think that's cr....er nor very good, i think that's clever! 17's the same, it must be an optical illusion?
It's def on Sky thurs & fri then BBC at the weekend, I think the Scottish Open is the same in July.
I believe the main reason the greens are being relaid is that they are currently poa annua and most top courses nowadays have bent grass greens which does give a truer roll and I believe are less susceptible to some diseases.
