I was wondering if anybody has been to the Pro-Am and Practice days at Wentworth and whether they felt it was worth it compared to one of the actual tourament days?
I took my lad on the Sunday last year but we cannot make the weekend this year, only viable days are the Tuesday, Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday. His highlight (apart from catching a glimpse of himself on the BBC2 highlights) was walking the whole course following Justin Rose who was an early starter rather than really caring about who was winning.

The pro-am is a good day at Wentworth, chance to watch a top player like Lee, Luke, Justin or GMac with relatively small crowds (compared to the weekend) and quite often they are playing with a celeb or two as well, Vernon Kay, Chris Evans and a few footballers etc normally.

I almost always go to the practice days. The crowds are getting bigger these days but you can get closer to the players, watch them practice and see them on the range easier. Sadly they do charge for the practice days now, which, up to a year or two ago were free but I will still go.

The Pro AM is ok, but once you get past the novelty of watching the celebs, quality wise you realise its like following a group round your course on a sunday morning..... I am going to the practise day this year, its only a fiver.

Love the Pro Am day, its very relaxed, you get to see the players up close, get some autographs / photos
its about £10 per head ,
Totally different atmosphere compared to the competition days, but at least you get to see some action, not easy when you are at the back of a crowd 10 deep

Been to the last 2, as mentioned before it is well worth it. Me and my mates ended up talking to Molinari for about 5 minutes on one tee, as the players are rather relaxed.

Thanks all, sounds ideal.

Do the practice days have set tee times that are published or is it a case of just wandering about to see who is going out and when?

Remember you can go to the US Open qualifying at Walton Heath on Bank Holiday Monday. It is free, 36 holes, no ropes, so you get very close to the action, great for the kids to get a good view. Decent players as well, those just outside the top 50 in the world.

There is a start list that gets published, however, it is only a guide, not all the players stick to the times they have "signed up" for. Also you get some players that will play say 4 or 5 holes, then skip over to the 15th and play the last few holes.
