Much better than the tournament days and if you go on the Tuesday or Weds (Weds being pro-am) you can see them very close up. Well worth going to the range too and seeing what a properly struck golf ball sounds like

Yeah Ive been to the pro AM and a few Opens, I like the idea of watching the Pros practice.

I agree about them hitting the ball, its so different to anything you see at your local course.

The pro am day is OK but there are a limited number of groups so you won't see many of the big names. I think the Thursday or Friday are best as you get to see everyone before the cut and the crowds are a bit smaller than the weekend days. I went on Friday last year when the weather was horrible, was a great day as the crowds were small and I just wrapped up in waterproofs and umbrella.

I don't agree, most of the big names were out at the last 2 pro ams at Wentworth
Seeing as I got autographs from Rose, Rory, Luke , Darren . Westy, poults, Jimmy nez ,Gmac and Ernie

There aren't that many more left,
Pro am is a great day out and cheap too, I'd recommend it, it's done on a shotgun start at 08.00 and at 13.00 so choose who you want to follow

So I'm guessing about 20-22 groups in each session? That's 40-44 pros instead of 150 on the first 2 competition days

I have been to the practice days many times and like it better than match days where the crowds can be huge. The downside us that on the Wed you now have two pro ams, so one pro and three or four amateurs. It all used to be free, parking and entry, but that's changed these days.

I recommend Yum Yums for a hotdog/ burger, they are usually in the car park next to the range which is a great place to while an hour away watching the top guys!

These were the pros on duty this year

Morning: Luke, Rory, Sergio, Paul lawrie, DC, Colsaerts,Goosen,Gonzo,Jimmy Nez,Olesen,Rumford,Stephen Gallagher, George Coetzee, Noren,Willett,Khan,McGinley,Scott Jamieson,Weisberger,Casey,Bjorn,Rose, Monty

Afternoon: Ernie,Kaymer,Olazabal,poults,Larrazabal,Donaldson,FMol,Grace,sterne,Howeller,Matteo,Siem,Ross Fisher,Campbell,Tom Lewis,Lynndawg,Aphibarnrat,Jacquelin,Rafa Cab Bello, Quiros,Westy & Gmac

Now if that isnt a mouth watering selection I dont know what is, at least 9 major winners on show

Actually Imurg was drooling all afternoon as we followed Di Dougherty, Naga Munchetty and Jodie Kidd with Alvaro Quiros at their pro

In fact Fragger 2 : DVS 0 :)

Not quite sure what your point is Fragger but I have a friend on the ET who isn't in your list and he is the one I would be most interested in following so I would rather go on Thurs/Fri and have the chance to see all of the field.

That's fine, if you want to follow a particular player, however most won't have the same connection
Just saying that the pro am is a cracking day out with big names and a relaxed atmosphere.

I agree,it is. Just that I happen to think watching players perform under pressure, especially some of the lower ranked ones fighting to make the cut is an even better day out.

Horses for courses.
