Blue Sky Thinking

I like the idea of realistic range mats that can be adjusted to replicate different lies. If they could then replicate semi rough and fairway grass more realistically (I'm lucky to have access to a grass practice area at the club so have that opportunity) it would give practice more realism. Expensive prohibitive I would think at least initially

Saw a link on twitter recently that had the recent patent applications. One was for a driver with a mini computer type device that automatically corrected itself! Nike had one that people could adjust the tackiness off the golf ball. There were a couple more but can't remember them now! I'll have to go have a look!

Just had another look but can't find the link but did find pings patent for air turbulentets! Little indents on the crown to change air flow over hybrids and woods. Callaway had one for adjustable hosels and one for extra weighting in the leading edge of of the irons.

Think they exist already. Only problem is each ball costs a couple of hundred quid

I have a ball that flashes in the rough, makes a bleeping sound if not found in 4 minutes, sends out an infrared beam that is picked up with an app on your smartphone that points you in the direction of the ball.

I found it!

Would actually prefer to see it reduced to 24. Cant see why you would need to increase the handicap limit

Perhaps you should come and play with some of our Seniors. There are a significant number of them who will always be off 28, will never play to it, but turn up every week, pay the comp fee and enjoy themselves. There's no point in saying they should have lessons and practise to improve - these guys are 70+ and just want to get some pleasure from golf while the body is still capable. They are happy as can be if they get to within 8 shots of their handicap and a 2s win sends them into ecstasy. Leave them alone.
