Did you see the rooney elbow to one of the wigan players. It was off the ball and rooney running past him, just elbowed him in the head.

Just saw on skysports news that there will be no charge by the FA. Why the hell not?!

Are Rooney and Man United so untouchable?

It's nothing to do with United bias simply the correct application of the rules.

Once Mark Clattenburg gave Wigan a free-kick — surely after some advice from his assistant referee, hence the delay in blowing his whistle —there was no possibility he could say that none of the officials saw the challenge, and that is what’s required for video evidence to be used.

Rooney did not trip, pull or push James McCarthy, yet a free-kick was awarded — so it must have been awarded for use of the arm. As Rooney was not even cautioned, this incident will not be mentioned by Clattenburg in his report.

Those observers who think that once a referee has seen Match of the Day he will change his report are mistaken.

But Rooney is still a thug who needs to get sorted out.

oh, another thread moaning about United.. The reason he is not up before the FA is because it was dealt with on the pitch by the referee, who awarded a free kick. United will think they are very fortunate and hopefully Ferguson has spoken to Rooney about the incident and the matter kept within the Old Trafford Walls.

I still think the FA needs to look at how other sports deal with indiscipline, for instance Rugby League, where a player can be penalised and the incident put on report and is passed acreoss to the governing body to look at the footage later in the week and decide on the punishment.

The FA HAVE before re-issued retrospective punishments

when Ben Thatcher elbowed mendes

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-6350551520137715640#

he was originally given a yellow card in game

The FA then gave him a 8 game ban + 15 suspended
and the police investigated

so the FA saying they cant is BS,theyve done it before and precedent set, they have a guidelines

but have Chosen NOT to act

I think everyone is missing the point here.

Why would the FA wish to punish a player that has done nothing wrong. They are hardly likely to hand out the ban that so many appear to crave when the player had done no wrong.

As I have said in a previous thread if you fellas reffed games no matches would ever finish. :D

In this incident above the referee admitted that he never really seen the incident and never should have given the free kick in the first place. This is a brave admission for the ref to make as if you don't see it you don't give it

Clattenburg covered his own backside by saying he seen it and was happy with the decision he has made. When he says this there is nothing the FA can do

What was the free-kick given for? :D

Players "collide" all the time in football. If this was just a collision, a coming-together of running players, then no free-kick would have been given.

Still, it'll make for some interesting banter at the match tonight. Will Gunner Cole be marking Smasher Rooney? :p

Are you stupid? It was a CLEAR forearm smash as he ran past. It has NO defence. The g1t should be banned for a very long time.
