for the past few weeks me and my local pro shop have been going round and round with me trying to buy a new driver. last week they finally managed get ahold of the driver i was looking for and in the right spec and then negotiations bagan between them and my financial manager (ie. my mum). finaly reached an agreement 2 days ago and i picked it up from the shop and took it straight to the driving range to break it in. things couldn't have gone better and i couldnt wait to try it out the next time i played a round. woke up this morning feeling as confidant about my chances as i have ever felt and got up and started mentally preparing myself to take the course apart. went into the kitchen and wouldnt you know it? it had been snowing all night and there were at least 3 inches of snow on the ground!naturally the course had been closed for the day and gone was my chance to play the course with that confidence you only get when you get new gear. theres always next week but it just wont be the same as it would have been today...

Shame, buy hey! one of the worst things you can do IMO is go to the course with new gear full of confidence. It usaually spells disaster and puts doubt in your mind for the following week, so maybe it's a good thing. You'll get your chance again soon I'm sure.

Nice driver you got there! I got the same one with some new irons, went out the same week and won a winter pairs match against all the odds!
All gone belly up since then though >_<

I've a set of I15 irons all ready and waiting to be used on the course and convince me they are the answer to my prayers. I took them out to the range yesterday and they were really nice. Great flight and feel although hard to gauge distances when the ground was rock solid and they were bouncing miles on landing.

We're on temporary greens and I couldn't be bothered going out and playing a shortened cours to try them. I really dislike playing on temp greens and find it a mockery trying to gauge distances and getting a ball to stop on a frozen but of fairway. Decided that I didn't fancy standing on a frozen range again today either so had a day off from all things golf watching the sport. Consequently the jury are still out on the I15's

Code Red, we got snow last night, roads have come to a standstill, the shops will be getting raided and civilisation as we know it will soon come to a standstill. All because the majority of folks here do not know how to drive in a bit of the white stuff.

Yep, just listening to the local radio show and their laughing at Britain, we cant cope with a few inches of snow. How do these other countries manage?
It's all down to health and safety, teachers cant drive in snow teachers cant teach pupils in class because wee jimmy would rather be out snow=balling. We never had a day off school because of snow. Typical of this day and age.
Last year my youngest son and his 2 mates where outside our house while it was snowing, I offered them a 5er for the winner who made the best snowman. They looked at me as if I had 3 heads. Couldn't do it, or was it a case they wouldn't do it? If I had given them a playstation or whatever game console they wished for, they would of jumped at that.
NANNY STATE gone mad........

Why should they be?
The problems you have are all to do with your swing, not the bloody bats you are using.
I guarantee that if you asked one of the pro's/coaches that you use "what would be the answer to my prayers?" the last thing they would say is "new clubs"...
How many times have you given the advice "you can't buy a game?"

I went to the range yesterday. The balls came out of the m/c a bit wet. By the time I came to hit some of them, they had frozen together. Brrrr.

Are you advising lessons instead?

Says the man who shelved a recently purchased set for the I15's and said he didn't regret it for a minute!

My swing is doing alright at the moment but I really, really like the I15. I can't put my finger on it but they look reasonable (well to my dodgy old eyes) and boy do they fly well even when I miss the sweetspot. I would never have had me down as a Ping fan in a month of Sundays until I hit these.

But I've never put a post up saying that they "might be the answer to my prayers" when its obvious that the problems lie elsewhere Homer.
Yes, I changed my Mizunos after a year. I didn't really get on with them and I had the money (at the time) to be able to afford to change. There's the difference.....
Your post about buying new clubs comes about two weeks after you posted that you were going to have to pull out of every meeting that you had put your name down for next year because you were worried about your job and finances. Many people, myself included, climbed aboard the sympathy train and post about you keeping your chin up, fingers crossed, offering advice etc. Then you go and do a "Homer" and go against everything that went before and decided to spend out on new clubs when your current clubs are perfectly good enough and have been since you purchased them. Many's the time you have been on here waxing lyrical about your irons!
Seriously, if I spent as much time having lessons, and as many hours as you do down the driving range/practice ground and my handicap wasn't coming down I'd know that something was seriously wrong. Jeez mate, with the amount of time you throw at this game you'd think you'd be off 4 or 5 handicap by now.
New clubs will not get your handicap down. Period.
So often you give good advice to newbies. Take my advice and keep your money in your pocket.

Then, *$%**/* wake up today to snow .... so thats tomorrows game gone!

Cant you keep the bad weather where it belongs - over the border!
