Turns out my 39 points from 15 holes was not only good enough to win division 2 of the stableford but was the best score of the day and the handicap has come back from 13.5 to 12.6 so I'm a very happy camper. I'm still concerned with the fact that I made huge errors on the 7th, 8th and 13th and didn't score on what should be simple enough holes and the fact that I birdied the 6th with my second ball (first went straight right OB). However a win is a win and a cut is a cut and I'll take both playing scabby golf everytime. I guess the only thing that yesterday showed, the manner of the win in particular is that a) its not how and b) keep the faith even if you don't feel like you've any control over the swing. Granted 28 putts including 7 single putts and a chip in helped enormously (there was a 3 putt ont he first) but all in all I'm chuffed to pieces. Happy days are here again and its definitely a cup half full sort of day

Pleased for you mate but I confess to feeling that your real handicap is the one off the white tees in strokeplay. The stableford scoring seems to almost encourage us all to have 2 or 3 blowouts and still make 36 or there abouts.

In truth at the club champs the 3 blowouts might be 20+ shots...

Another post full of positivity. :(

I say well done HJS! :)

Having played the course a few times, it's no surprise you returned a good score even with blobs, it's that kind of test.

Your handicap is ALWAYS worked out using stableford points so the 3 blowouts in your club champs still only count as nett doubles when your hc is worked out.

This ^^ should go in the urban myths thread.

Homer, very very well done sir, you'll be dangerous when you start playing well!

Well in this case I had a 7 on the par 4 7th, a 5 on the par 3 8th and a 5 on the par 3 13th so in response to your point, it wouldn't have made a significant difference

Forgot to say I also get qualification into The Masters (no not that one). Its a 36 hole medal for all comp winners over the last 12 months and extends the record of playing in it to the last four consecutive years.

Dave I agree the 7th is poor hole. You're forced to lay up short of the ditch off the tee and leave 200+ in. You can go for it but with the hazard left and everything narrowing into a 15 yard gap over the ditch there really is no benefit to be gained.

well done that man, and good luck in the masters, glad to see you playing well, and seem happy with things, nice change from your posts earlier in the year!! :)
