Does anybody actually still use these or has the world completely been over run by IOS and Android?

It's soon to be that time again where the phone contract is due to be renewed and I'm considering moving away from the Android platform but not back to IOS.

I've had several BlackBerry in the past but the last and liked them alot was a good few years ago.

Anybody using current model and have any thoughts, particularly towards the OS?

I'm the only person in our company that has one (BB10) thanks to my ace IT department. Have used one for years. Alas, I'll switch to IOS later this year as BB will no longer support Whatsapp from Dec 31.

Mines been in a draw for years, I've got too fatter fingers for the keyboard and just never really got on with them, loved my HTC's that I had for years but now have the 6s which is great.

Do you use your work email on your phone? If so, check with the nerds they have the ability to support Bb, most these days do not. iPhone and android play so much better with exchange!!

Personally even Windows is too left field for me, would be iOS or android just based on availability of apps, ease of use, integration with other systems.

I used a couple of comparison sites to find my new phone contract.

As I am more data user (TBH though who calls and texts anymore?) I looked for a specific data heavy contract.

I found one with iD, a virtual network on 3s hardware. 4GB a month for £10 for the first year, then it drops to two. Pretty solid deal IMO.

I will say the coverage has been noticeably (but not hugely detrimentally) different from my old O2 contract but for 8x the data for the same cost it feels like a steal. Once they fix the current fault in my area I will be good to go. Sadly the fault affects 3G and 4G!

My friend recommended one from Virgin, another virtual network but this time on EEs hardware (far superior coverage) for 3GB for £13 a month. Im going to put my wife on that this week as it looks like a steal compared to her current contract for the same cost! She is going to go up by 6x her data allowance!

Im already 1/6 of the way through my data after a couple of weeks so it looks like for normal use 4GB is going to be too much but not by a huge amount.

3GB should be plenty, yes its £3 a month more for the virgin one but the far superior coverage should make up for that.

I had to use a Blackberry for work up until 18 months ago, a hideous machine which everyone moaned about. Moved jobs and was handed a sparkly new iPhone5, it was a revelation. I would never have a Blackberry through choice, screen is too small, keyboard is too small but it was ok for making and receiving phone calls.

Not overly surprised at the negativity.

I'll be honest, I'm seriously considering one. Specifically the Passport.

Thing is with me, I don't play games on my phone at all. I use very very few apps probably 3-4 at most. I don't watch much video either aside from some YouTube clips.

I do however do masses of Web browning, including this place. Send and receive lots of email, make plenty of calls. All for these are battery heavy and the Passport, from all reports, has an epic battery.

The main plus for me is the physical keyboard. Yes, I'm a but of a 90's child and it is one of the things I miss from my previous Blackberry use.

Camera specification is on par with most although no 4k capability, which is no real loss as I don't shot much video anyway.

Please don't hate me :smirk:
