When I first took up golf I wanted to par ebvery hole on my course - I kept a score card and x'd them off when done. To my suprise this happened pretty fast.
Next was the birdie challange - TBH I never kept a card but I have birdied every hole with SI 1 being a very proud moment, as I was playing with people I used to play with at a different course.

I have knocked a few lucky eagles with 3 chip ins and 2 of them from the sand. However, I could play for a hundred years and not Eagle all 18.

Do you or have you set such challanges? Ideally I want a managable challange but one that should take a season or two.

Perhaps a 1 putt challange - simply see if I can have a 1 putt one every green.

birdied the Si 1 at selsdon park last week which i was chuffed with as it has an elevated green that killed me when i played there around 10 years ago.

targets for the year was to get back to 12 and brake 80 around my local. I hit 79 with a few mistakes around the start of june, and have now broke 83 around selsdon park which with a par of 73 i was quite chuffed about.

Next two targets for the year are to brake 75 around my local par 68 which is doable, and im now looking past my 12 target to hopefully get to 10. i dont think 10 is doable but it makes 12 so much more acheiveable.

Here's a challenge that will keep you going for a while.

Try and beat your record for total length of putts holed in one round. :)

Don't know if I have it right - my take

First green - 2 putts - one 20' one 2' thus its a 22' total? Then add them all up?

No. Sorry.
Ist green, 2 putts how long was the putt you holed = 2'
2nd chip on to 5' and hole it, add that .
Third hole 1 putt 20' add that
So first 3 holes are 27'
Doesn't have to be exact but you can note the rough distance of each putt you hole on a card for each hole.
The higher the number at the end the better putter you are

Not necessarily the better player though or the better scorer ;)

The higher the number the more practice you need with the irons/woods or your chipping is gash and leaving you 10/15 footers :D

Disagree with that, If I hit every green in regulation my woods\irons would be in pretty good shape but I'd expect to be further from the hole and have more putts than I would if I missed every green and chipped on.

Personally I'm not too fussed whehter its a chip in, long putt or a tap in. All I care about is getting it into the hole asap. I never worry about trying to make par or birdie on every hole although I will look at each hole over a period of time and adjust my game plan if I'm having a tough time with a particular one.

If you want to set targets, then much better on focussing on the handicap and going as low as you can

The number of putts is not the issue here , its the length of putts holed that is the issue. Therefore if you leave yourself on the greens but miles away then youre probably going to be 2 putting a great deal or possibly in your case 3 putting. Either way the length is going to pretty short dont you think. If your iron play was better then realistically your going to give yourself more makeable putts. I think :D

Totally disagree - improve your golf but DONT set handiocap targets as they make you place pressure on your game that you can do without - certainly keep your eye on the numbers and small tergets but I dont set specific targets.
