Got my Droidbox set up nicely now so I bit the bullet last week and phoned Sky to tell them to cancel it. Didn't listen to their offers, just went straight in and cancelled. Yesterday I got an email from them offering me half price for a year. Half tempted by it (I do like a lot of shows on Sky Atlantic) although I can definitely live without it. Those who have cancelled before what would you do? Do you think thats it or are they likely to come in with a better offer nearer the off date?

We went through the same process as you 3 years ago, including ignoring all the offers. We're back with Sky now. Like you, a lot of our viewing was on Atlantic. Picture quality was another reason we went back to Sky.

Sorely tempted my bill comes in at £130 a month but I do like some of the channels, could go freeview and also get an amazon firestick with kodi.
If I could get it down to £50 a month I'd be happy, no Virgin in my area but BT all in is £60, somethings got to give

Personally I'd stick with sky.
I tell them I'm cancelling every time my offer expires, they always get in touch withinn the 30 day cancellation period with a new offer.
I Never take the 1st offer.

£130 is crazy, what do you get for that?

Download the Sky app and log in to see what offer is there. We had 35% then later on 50%. We didn't take up either offer. Still haven't had anything better through nearly six months later.

Id definitely keep the sports channels. Looking at tne small print HD sports is now being charged as an extra, i might phone them and say ill take it if they chuck that in free

i am in my 30 day cancellation period, i am waiting for the call.. I want Sky Q 2GB with 2 mini boxes, but they want 300 quid up front. They wouldn't budge so i cancelled, fingers crossed they call with an offer as i do want skyq!!

Ave told them to stick it and cannot see me goin back, got summat called Openbox on at the mo and watching the British masters. Got every champ new you could think of.
bottom line is that sky have got too expensive?

That offer is for new customers but you might want to mention it to them when they phone.

After being with sky for over 10 years I changed to virgin this week. I'm now getting phone, fibre broadband full tv package and multiroom for £81 a month.

About 3 weeks into my cancellation period sky phoned and offered the same package, minus BT sport, for £72. The problem was I would've had to pay an extra £25 a month for BT sport so I just went with the virgin deal.

I cancelled Sky and didn't listen to their on the spot offers.A couple of weeks later their win back dept called me and i negotiated a mega deal.

I went from paying £77 to £44 and they supplied and installed a 2nd box for free. £50 credit and a month free as well.

Since I owned my box I am not under any contract for that so could leave tomorrow. The only obligation is 12 months of half price multiroon £6 for the new box.

Haggle and stick to your threat and they will fall over backwards to make you stay. Link I followed below.

Also need to factor in that Sky give you the boxes for free so after the first year with Sky either you the the insurance or pay for an engineer (unless that has changed since we left); Virgin remain the owners of the equipment and as such accept the responsibility for its upkeep so the engineer is free.

So do sky with their sky Q boxes
