Biggest meltdown?

So out of idle curiosity, what is your biggest golfing breakdown?

I'll start- Playing off a 9 handicap- 1 over par through nine holes (harder 9).

Followed up with bogey, bogey, treble bogey, 5 off the tee leading to an NR.

Shocking day that was!

Biggest meltdown for me was a medal this year.

Conditions were very tough and I lost of the countback overall. Still kicking myself

Last months society, front 9 had 18 points.
Back 9 I began to take deep divots 6 inches behind the ball on pretty much every shot I had.
Finished with 21 points!

The stand out for me is 10 June 2005, society meet, about a dozen of us for 36 holes around Saunton East and West.

Morning round on the East course (5 hours or so) was sitting in 3rd place. Smoked a drive down the 1st in the afternoon and was well up for it. Out of no where I got a dose of the shanks, completely lost the plot. On the 5th tee with my head buzzing I managed to hit a driver off the heal of the club that shot the ball straight between my legs and 50 yards behind me!

At that point I graciously thank my playing partners for their company and retired to the bar.

In our club Open a couple of years ago I started on the 10th and shot 3 birdies, one bogey and 5 pars to turn 2 under gross. I then contrived to shoot 49 on the other 9 to finish level for my 12 handicap - but did get a small cut.

My back 9 today! Out in 41 and back in 52, wind picked up massively mind

Rubbish Start.... 5 over after 5. Standing on 17th tee I was 6 over and finished double, quadruple...

Was in a medal last year and stood on the 15th tee just needing 4 pars to shot a net 61 (par70) if I remember correctly I went bogey double double and the 18th resulted in 9 off the tee and couldn't find any of them so just nrd. Gutted.

Playing off 10, walked on to 16th tee 2 over par. Finished 6, 5, 7 - (double, double, quadruple bogey).

Next day (36 hole comp), walked on to 16th +4. Finished 7, 5, 5.

Lost the comp by 2.

Playing off 16, I was 1 over through 9 (Birdie on 8 and 9) then the heavens opened, play was cancelled for an hour, we got back on and i took an 11 down the 10th, 5 off the tee. finished up playing to 15 and buffering (SSS 67 on our Par 68). Worst day of golf i have ever had. It was also presidents day so a big prize was on the cards

I am famous for collapsing...my society nickname which I have on a cap and my putter cover is "Jericho" ...as in "Walls of..."

Most recent one was (off 19 h'cap) was 6 over after 12 so 13 shots left....didnt get cut

Fella at our club was -5 standing on the 16th tee. Realistic chance of breaking the course record.

Took an 11 at the par 5 16th .

I shot level par on the wednesday medal then on the saturday i was +1 on 17 and took an 8 on the par 4. Finished with a good par on our 220yd par 3 to finish right enough.

Off 13, I was 1 over par after front 9, gross. Finished the back 9 12 over, to shoot my handicap!

-6 gross after 4...don't ask.. and ended +6 at the end. disgusted I couldn't even keep it together for level par.

Playing off of 14 I was level after 9 with so net -7 in a medal, as I walked to the tenth the playing partner says " this is yours " .... I laughed and replied " the wheels could fall off at any time "

Double bogey on 10 after massive slice off the tee and about 5 shanks, quad bogey on 11 and 12, nr'd on 13, walked 14-17 as i couldn't bare to hit a shot, cleared my head had a laugh and finished with a birdie on 18!

Last years end of season trophy winners championship, playing off 14, was 5 under my handicap after 15 holes, then went treble, double to be 1 under handicap on the 18th tee.

pulled two balls into the woods, found neither, so nr'd on 18. Net 2 over wine the comp.

have a chance to redeem myself in a playoff for this years trophy winners championship on Sunday...........watch this space.
