Headed back to The Shire at the weekend for various reasons and managed to arrange a convenient time to sneak in 18 holes with Bob and Jan at Sudbrook Moor, their home course. Partly because I'd let him down in the past and partly because I wanted to clear my debt with him after helping me with my swing.

As GB72 has pointed out recently, Sudbrook Moor is a fantastic little 9 hole course with two flags on each hole to make it an 18 hole course. I was a member there as a junior 15 years ago, but it's come on ALOT since then and it's a great course with some of the best practice facilities I've ever seen at a "normal" golf club.

We warmed up on the range and to my horror, Bob pointed out that my over the top swing had crept back in. No bother, minutes later, he'd managed to correct it and I was striking the ball lovely. I even tried out his antique TaylorMade 1-iron which was so thin, it had no top line. It was a joy to hit!

Anyway, I'm now rambling, Homer-style, but just wanted to thank Bob and Jan for a really enjoyable afternoon's golf, I was really impressed with Jan's golf, she's got some deadly shots in her arsenal; and Bob for putting me back on the right road and (hopefully) sorting out a few of my faults and teaching me a few tricks of the trade! Best money I've ever spent. And the best bit was, it didn't rain!

Oh and don't worry, even the pro's shank the ball, don't they Bob? :D

I cant believe you owed Bob money for helping you out with your swing, surely he owes you money, lol :)
Glad you enjoyed the day and the company,i look forward to Bobs company soon.
Nice to here Bobs got the shanks, should fit in nicely :)

Lets have a Bob McArthur appreciation day.

I say well done old bean. Top banana!

Oh and further to the "should trolleys be banned for the under 60's" thread.

Bob, despite his age, was carrying his bag on Saturday. If he can do it at his age, anyone can! ;)

I think he is grumpy old git, and not sure what Jan sees in him. :D :D ;)

I did begin to wonder that as well. :D

Feel a bit sorry for him though, the bloke he's staying with next weekend sounds like a right charlie :D

(looking forward to our round x ;))

:D

He's going to have a field day with your back swing!

 :D

You'll have a cracking round with him. He might even bore you regailing (sic!) stories of when he turned pro back in the 1800's. :D

Me and Imurg had a knock this weekend and you were the missing link mate... we were there with our shiny sticks all dressed in Mizuno blue head covers. We swapped and had a little love in with one another's clubs, your name even came up in topic...

Glad you had a good game with Bob and Jan anyhow. The standard of Ian and I golf was HIGH so you would not have kept up...........NOT!! :o

I did crush Ian though..... on count back

I dont think you guys need to know how many points!

I have to say, those blue Mizzy headcovers are ace looking, if a little unnecessary and OTT! :D

You playing at Blackmoor Al? wouldn't mind a swing with one of your 53's if I get the chance.

I know he is,im just thinking of going up the range to practice lengthening it.
Or i can just knock it past his first drive with my 3 wood with a half swing,ha,ha :)

Don't panic, I've forewarned him. :D

I think the long 3 wood off the 1st will do it. It'll be like Yang vs. McIlroy yesterday (of sorts! )

Sadly not buddy, I have a hard job putting things in the calendar the last little while, work is frantic as is home, both in a good way. I am sure Ian will tell you but he found them very forgiving compared to his 58s and no harder or easier to move the ball. Funny thing is I had a hit with his 58 on the range and it was flush and felt so sweet, they are thin though, I thought mine were little.

As for the head covers... I like shiny to be shiny and dent free. Tbh I would put head covers on my tour sticks if they made them ... :D :D :D

Haha come to think of it I have a Ferrari umbrella that has its own sleeve/cover in my bag. Very cool until it rains, then you have to yank it off and put it somewhere and then when you want to put it back on the umbrella is all wet.

Anyway random I know :D

You are welcome any time Jon. Nice isn't it? :)

As for the shanks, I could see you were getting fed up with your game so I threw in a couple just to cheer you up :o :o
I hope I helped with your game for next week so see you at Blackmoor. :D

Just off to the range to see if I can groove my new Furyk swing :D

I was up at Blackmoor yesterday and have seen the 1st. Interesting and not much room for my dodgy nervous first swipe to escape left or right. Looking forward to meeting Bob and everyone else going to Blackmoor and hope the weather improves. Lets get it on
