On the back of the BIG shiny write off post.

What bit of equipment did you buy and it actually did work out to be a great purchase, something that did actually make a tangible difference to your game.

For me its a bit of a random one, its my Mizuno MP R12 wedges, they changed my feel around the green and 100 yards in play for the better and keep performing.

What about you? What bit of kit was your game changer....

Disclamer: I am aware the weak point is the human at the end of the club.

Still looking!

My old V Steel 5W is an ever faithful servant, despite being replaced twice by newer shinier models, it always comes back in the bag.

My Adams 9015D that I stuck my favourite shaft into. Sold it last year - but I know where it is and it may return!

My Baby Bee Putter!

the first major club purchase that changed my game was an 18 degree MD hybrid. It was just so much more versatile for the rough than my 3 and 5 woods.

the game of golf got easier over night with that.

the next big change was the introduction of a lob wedge. this changed my game around the green in so many ways. it remains the longest serving club in my bag.

Mine was the change from my "Starter" set of Howson DJ100's, to a set of TopFlite Tour irons back in '95. Back then TopFlite was still a "Name" and the TFTour irons were used by the likes of Ronan Rafferty and Peter Baker....
The difference in feel and quality was staggering, they were the Dog's!!!!
With them I dropped from 14 to 8 in a year and won plenty of Comps including 2 Captain Day triumphs....

I went shopping for a new putter 2 years ago. In my head I was already planning to buy a Scotty but after trying out several I walked away with a Fisher for the princely sum of £80. It improved my putting immensely and it would take something very special to remove it from my bag!

Back then you'd find a TopFlite ball in the rough/hazard and actually put it your bag with the intention of playing it rather than just leaving it where you found it!

Mph4 2 iron. Was a bit of a gamble but does exactly what I wanted it too. Gives me a reliable, straight and reasonably long option off the tee for short par 4s or tight tee shots that would be too risky for the big dog.

This is something I'm also looking at (H4). I had the original MP Fli-Hi and regretted selling it.
