Pictures from the presidents cup (available on other forums) appear to show Phil playing a very poorly painted TM SLDR driver. Whilst he's not averse to this sort of thing ( he was playing an RBZ 3wood painted earlier in the year), it does seem a very strange situation that someone as big as Phil (in Callaway staff terms) plays a different driver, and one so poorly disguised.

Surprising especially after he went on and on and on and on about his new Callaway driver a couple of months ago!

Lol, being a TM fanboi I chuckle, but callaway in my opinion make fantastic drivers, if I didn't have a free R1, I would own a cally.

I actually like the Cally drivers, obviously Phil doesn't.
It's a bit like Alonso turning up at the F1 in a Redbull covered in paint & hoping no one notices.

Our kid was saying that at his TM SLDR fitting the rep said there was a huge rush to release the driver as Callaway have a new driver out with the same technology called the 'Slider' and they had copyrights on the name, hence why Tim's offering us the SLDR. Maybe big Phil is trying out the new Cally model....

The most common scenario touted was that Callaway got wind of TM getting close to releasing details of their new driver, and Callaway went on the offensive and trademarked everything they possibly could around the slider name....a little while later TM went public about the SLDR, and Callaway have yet to announce anything around the slider naming.

As for it being a callaway Proto, there is no way the pictures clearly show its a TM SLDR but with the crappest paint job to try and cover up the details. In fact mygolfspy.com even has quotes from Callaway admitting that its a TM model and explaining that their own comparable model is not ready yet.

Didn't he have the RBZ fairway in his bag at the start of the year painted up to disguise it? Til Callaway had the 3deep ready.

So much for his love affair with the razr fit extreme at the Phoenix, that lasted all of a week or two. He's a shocker for switching clubs Mickelson, he should be on Golfwrx, he'd fit right in. Bit of a short knocker by their standards though...

Not the 1st time Mickelson as played other manufacturers equipment.

I did mention the RBZ in the original post

Quote from Harry Arnett, Callaway’s Senior VP of Marketing ....

@danwmeyer not our driver ths wk. Our low/forward cg Tour driver isn't ready yet so gave green light to play whatever he wanted until then

Phil is a pretty poor with any driver from what I've seen. He's just doing what a lot of people do when they struggle with the driver..... look for a quick fix.

I did see last night that he still has the balls Deep "3 wood" in the bag

Sure Homer will be having a word with him & telling him Lessons are the way to go rather than searching for a quick fix:rolleyes:
