2 and a wee bit weeks ago i got fitted for callaway x hot irons as im 6ft 8 off the shelf clubs dont fit to well, so today is my 10 working days out of the 7 to 10 working days i was qouted, now as clubs are a fairly big part of callaway suppose you could even say their bread and butter, i doubt you can believe my frustration at being told its going to be another 7 working days before they can ship my clubs because they are having problems getting the club heads , now my dilema is should i cancel the order out of principle and get the mizuno jpx or just wait the next week and a half and hope they sort it out!

If you cancel your order you're going to have to wait for another 7-10 working days if you go to mizuno or any other manufacturer. I'd give Callaway the benefit of the doubt before cancelling to be honest.

Good luck either way.

Between a rock and a hard place, normally I happily cut my nose off to spite my face but in this case you're probably best hanging on for callaway.

I do know that Callaway UK have had problems getting hold of some kit.

However, that doesn't excuse them from not performing to what they stated.

Press them for a discount/compensation for their failure to deliver when they stated. Mention that you are considering cancelling and using Mizuno - as that is exactly what you are doing! Would you still have ordered them if they'd stated 15-20 working days in the first place?

825s are pretty good too btw! Though check out their lead times as well! If you do cancel and go to Mizuno, make sure they know and why and commit to their delivery time or offer discount/compensation too.

I once ordered some Mizuno's and the hybrid was quite late arriving (about 3 weeks late) , so they gave me a free wedge. Not sure if it was the actual pro shop or Mizuno themselves, but it was a nice gesture.

Mizuno did have some issues themselves with sourcing parts or lack of earlier in the year.

I know I had a quick turn around with my irons, but heard of people (... On here) waiting 3+ weeks.

After my hassle with Cleveland, three and a half weeks to get a club repaired, I heard that Mizuno were even worse two weeks in and the poor sod I was chatting to still hasn't had his clubs picked up for repair.

It could be that parts are hard to come by, or that there are a lot of repairs going in and the job queues are very large, but if that is the case why do these companies feel the need to say that they will get you what you ordered or what you need repaired in 7, 10 or 14 days for example and then fail to do so, knowing that they couldn't realistically meet those targets. It only ends up with very annoyed customers threatening to ditch whatever manufacturer they are with, or cancel orders. Even if it is just a threat, when clubs come to getting replaced chances are there will be no repeat orders for that manufacturer.

But on the flip side for every ticked off customer there will be a raft of customers who are very happy with their golfing manufacturer product and will never have a need to complain.

I had issues with Callaway a few years ago when i was custom fitted for set of irons. I was constantly mucked around with them saying they didnt have the shafts etc. It included them telling me they no longer could get the 3iron for the set (which i ended shipping in from america).

once i received the irons, all was pretty much forgotten, but i still wrote a rather large complaint to them.

a few days later i received a dozen balls, towel, hat and pitch mark repairer.

Maybe its worth writing a letter yourself and see if you can get some free stuff?

11 comments & no mention of Orka
Might be worth threatening to cancel order just to see if you can get any freebies out of em.

No point, 'Haterz Gonna Hate'

I hate blocking people and dont even have bomber blocked... yet. but I do have Pin-seeker blocked, as you quoted him I see the post.... not looking to change my mind on that decision any time soon, another pointless remark from someone who has not idea and is here for the post count...

I know it's a pain but you are buying something that (hopefully) you'll be using for a long time to come, so in the grand scheme of things is another 7 days really such a big deal?

Or you could get Orka's :D

Hehe.... light the blue touch paper and stand well back....

Just worth remembering the 7-10 days will be from the point when Callaway got the order from the retailer. If the retailer was slow in getting this off to Callaway then it's the retailers fault. Seen many moans on the Mizuno forum that turn out to be the retailer being slow to place their order. Ag seem to be particularly slow as they order via head office and not through individual stores apparently.

Certainly you have to let Callaway know you are unhappy and see what they will do to keep your custom.

I got a Callaway stand bag for Christmas and when I opened up the box the material over the club dividers was cut in a few places and the carry strap was frayed in only place.

I called up the online retailer my wife had ordered from and they asked for it back for a look, collection at their expense done the following day. A few days later they called me up having returned the bag to Callaway saying they had no more stock of that bag but I could have the next years model as soon as it arrived at not extra cost (got the first one discounted as it was end of line).

So, they can provide good service - ask them what went wrong on this occasion and why you should wait longer still for your order - it's got to be worth the question.

The really annoying bit is mainly with Nevada bob, they encouraged me to get the callaways because they told me the lead times were really quick, the total for my wedges was £440 saved £9 or 0.5% so I paid all of it upfront on the Wednesday night, it was late and they said we will order first thing in the morning. I'm really new to golf at that time I had played 1 18 hole course and the local 9 hole about 6 times, the £440 was over my budget didn't really want to spend much more than £400 but the club felt good so I went for it, one of the sales guys told me at time of paying that should expect them by next Friday and went in to buy some cheesy callaway stuff hat balls towel etc and he was still confident that it "will be here soon" phoned back the following Monday and he phoned callaway supposedly and phoned me back saying the clubs will be shipped to them, in the middle to end of the week, thought brilliant and kept boasting about my new clubs and how I will have them by Sunday which is my main golf day. Yet again nothing phoned back on Tuesday only because I had a funeral on Monday and the guy said will go find out that's when I got drop kicked into another 7-10 working days so basically 2 weeks from Tuesday that's why I'm so annoyed, it's also really slowing down my progress because more lessons with the wrong sticks just seem a waste of time and might as well burn the money. My mum got a brand new rangerover built in less time!
