Played well in a medal yesterday in tough conditions, working out my potential cut seems to suggest quite a cut, unfortunately our results are slow to publish so won't know till the end of the week.
However being impatient, does this look right...

Previous comp -4 net

Yesterday -8 (SSS, CSS likely to be 1 or 2 higher)
Current handicap 17.6
Cut based on CSS'S being the +1 to SSS 2.7 reducing handicap to 14.9
Then by my reckoning I could also have an ESR of 2 shots reducing handicap to 12.9.

That seems an awfully large cut, are my calculations correct?
Cheers

Not sure on the ESR as I thought it was 3 scores of -4 or more but you are already down to 15 as you self administer a cut against SSS 8 x 0.3 making 15.2.

Was your -4 nett -4 against CSS? That would have to be so for ESR to be triggered (assuming you play in a country where ESR is used).

Any further scores of -4 or better will lead to ESR. The amount of additional reduction depends on the number of other qualifiers between the 2 scores and the average of the 2 scores. In your case it will not be greater than 1 stroke.

Yes the -4 was against CSS. However if yesterday's CSS was +1 giving me a score of -9 Nett that would make the average 6.5 and therefore an ESR of 2 wouldn't it?

Only if your guess on CSS is correct. Our experience, since the CSS calculation formula was changed, is that CSS doesn't increase as often as you might expect.
