Just been watching some golf from Gleneagles and Ross Fisher has just had the most outrageous stroke of luck.

Bad pull on a par 3 plugs into the rough grass on the steep face of the bunker. European Tour rules afford relief for this anywhere on the course and not just on cut & prepared.

As the bank was so steep he couldn't drop or even get the ball to remain in place by placing it. He ended up getting to place the ball a good 10 feet to the left up on the same level as the green with a pretty easy chip.

If faced with the same scenario we would either have to (somehow) chop it out or take an unplayable and a penalty drop.

I know that a local rule can be put in place at any club to cover this but it isn't at our club and i haven't played at any where this local rule is in place.

Anyone's club have this local rule in place or are we just all really hard done by?? :D

Nope, plug a ball in the rough, you're stuffed. Only in exceptional ground conditions would a local rule be put in place. It has never happened at my track.

It's not a real rule but more for winter rules and is normally
Plugged in the rough = Lift, clean and drop
Plugged in the fairway = Lift, clean and place
