I popped to the London Golf Show yesterday and being a Callaway convert this year I took the opportunity to have a whack with the new Big Bertha irons. Now, to me, they are fugly, but when he put the 80g regular shaft in them - wow did they go, and straight.

On Trackman I was landing where my current X2Hot irons roll out. So my X2's 7 iron rolls out (using GC2) to 168 and these were pitching at that!

Would I change? Not too sure, partly because of looks but I also think that I'm not sure that I want say a pitching wedge that goes 140yards and have the gapping on the top end to be all out of kilter - but if you want more distance with easy to hit clubs, give them a try, but don't spend time trying to love the looks!

They might perform well, but I'd never put them in the bag, they're ridiculously ugly. They look bad in pictures, and even worse in person.

Just been hitting the big bertha irons and the new adams irons. Both where identical. The crazy thing is they both gave me a 124mph ball speed over my ping i20's 119mph. Wish I'd never hit them now!

I have this problem mate... I am having to just learn to live with it for the time being. I have a 46 degree PW wedge then a 52 Wedge. I dropped the SW from my set because it would go 150 yards up and not as far... For now I am having to hit an easy or full PW for that gap. My 52 degree will get 125 tops!
