Just a heads up for anyone who has the odd flutter.

I placed a £20 bet on Germany to win the World Cup in a local Betfred shop. When I handed over the coupon at the counter, the guy asked me if it was over 90 minutes or outright result. I said outright result. When I went to collect the following week I was told the bet had lost as Betfred pay out over 90 minutes unless specifically written on the coupon and Germany won after extra time. I pointed out the discussion that had taken place at the time the bet was placed but they argued that they can only go by what is written on the coupon.
I opened a case with IBAS the betting ombudsman but they agreed with Betfred saying that a spoken conversation is not evidence or proof.

So just a word of warning to those occasional gamblers like myself, make sure your intended bet is written 100% clearly on your ticket and get the assistant to write any amendments on it if necessary otherwise the bookies will wriggle out of payment.

Yeah they did, said it was the 90 minutes price when I went to collect despite me asking for the overall result. Assistant never said anything and not being a regular gambler I trusted his actions.

Unfortunately you have no chance of getting your money because of the fact you have a price on your ticket, in my shop I insite everyone uses a coupon an 9/10 times I fill it in for them to avoid this very situation.

What I will say about Betfred is they will do everything they can to avoid paying you, they are the scum of the betting industry. Coral, Hills, Paddy will all give you a fair shake.

Yeah I'm writing this one off and putting it down to experience. Betfred have lost an occasional customer, at least I can highlight this for the benefit of others on here that have the odd punt :thup:
