Was wondering what is the biggest difference in scores you have posted in consecutive rounds. The reason being I shot my best ever score breaking 90 for the first time scoring 88 (handicap 23) last Weds, I then shot 106 on Sunday 18 strokes worse ! My front 9 in both rounds was 42 compared to 56. Are these big differences common in high handicappers or do you lower handicappers suffer from this as well ?

Interesting question. Not 100% sure but pretty certain I shot in the mid 80's on the Friday before a club championship and shot something like a 95 in the 1st round. Don't you hate it when you have practiced hard and everything feels good and you go out and it feels as useless as a labour canvasser in Crewe (bit of political comment - my name's Ben Elton goodnight)

I think I must play a different game to most of the GMfus.

I can't remember playing under 80 or over 90 this millenium....

18 strokes worse (than my h'cap)....that would mean playing to 100-ish......scary....

One word, consistency. Thats why my Handicaps 22...i have none. I didn't score a 2 in that stableford comp they were all 3's, 1's and n/r's (7 n/r's to be precise)...really frustraiting.

Big differences are common, especially after a good round, when you think you have the game sussed. Already this year I've had a 13 shot difference (67 then 80) and a 12 shot difference (73 then 85) in consecutive rounds. Not unusual for me to have a 9 shot difference on consecutive days, like this weekend (85 then 76). It's all part of the joy of the game !

ok
last week the following happend, on the tuesday i played my home course, shot a scratch 73-9=64
on friday i went to the home of golf with Madandra, had a dozen J Arthurs and gave up on my score, i was that bad that on the 17th i nearly took out a passing cyclist going past along side the fairway, not once but twice, anyway best forgotten.
Sunday, club medal out in 43=8 over oh no here we go and back in 36,1 0ver net level par
what the hell is that all about?

Yep, it happens all the time. Before the last medal, I shot 76, 78, 80 during the week, and then 92 92 in the spring meeting at the weekend.

also threw in a 50 on a par 28 academy course where my girlfriend beat me without giving her shots never lived it down not as bad as when she out drove me 3 times last weekend off the same tees, the pain of playing with your other half
