Big Hitting, South African Sweary Person
We have a regular Wednesday afternoon/evening 9 hole qualifier at Spalding in the simmer. Tremendous little comp which usually draws between 60 and 85 players. Had 107 a fe weeks back which was fantastic. So anyway the qualifier is over the 9 holes but the comp runs to the 13th because the green is next to the clubhouse. I have played this 5 times this year and had 17, 19, 19, 20 (with a blob) and 20. Not too shabby. Fairly consistent over what I think is the harder 9 at ours.
Played a little course called Hovenden near Holbeach where my brother in law is a member. 9 holer with 6 par 3's and 4 par 4's. The par 3's aren't massive and range from 130-180 yards and the greens are very slow. It's tricky with several holes having large trees directly in front of the greens. We took the kids round with us and I came away with 24 points. Which was 1 birdie, 7 pars and a double. My scoring analysis at Spalding shows that I normally average 3.75 for par 3's and 5.09 for par 4's. I really wasn't expecting to play as well as I did. Highlight was a 2 iron drawn below one tree and over another to hit the 8th green from 230 odd yards.
