Sorry if this post is a bit long but I just had one of those days.

Played in our Summers Pairs Knockout yesterday against two times summer pair’s champions and six times Winter Pairs champions. One plays of 7 and the other 15 (once 8), my partner is a 12 who has been stuck up in bed for two weeks with food poisoning, and I’m a 25h/c. So I’m receiving 14 shots. We lose the first to a birdie from the 7h/c my partner gets a half on the second and my par 5 (net 4) halves the 3rd where the 7h/c gets another birdie. I sink a 25 foot putt for a par 3 (net 2) to get us back to all square after four with the 7h/c 2 under par. We then halve the next 4 holes. Our 9th (par 4 S.I 4) is difficult as it has a big pond in front of the green, I decide to lay up and play for a 5, the 7h/c is in the rough so he has to do the same and our partners both find water, I then sink a six footer which catches the left lip to put us 1 up, the 7h/c player is one over par gross with two penalty shots.

I get a halve on our S.I 1 10th hole and sink a 15 foot putt for a birdie 2 (net 1) on the 11th to go two up. We lose the 12th (S.I 17) to a par to get pegged back to one up. We halve the next 3 holes, with our 16th (S.I 5) to come. With a strong wind against none of us can get there in two so we all lay up, both my opponents see their putts lip out and with my stroke I have two putts from 8 feet which I take to go dormie two. The 17th (437 yards S.I 3) again isn’t reachable in two due to the wind again and another big pond in front of the green. The 7h/c gets there in 3, and after a bit of trouble I’m on in 4 with a 40 foot putt which I leave a foot short for a 6 (net 5) my opponent misses from 20 feet for a 5 and we win 2 & 1.

Later I check my score and see that after a 7 and a 5 on the first two holes (par 4 + 3) I have taken 92 blows and recorded a total of 40 stapleford points (20 and 20) for my second best score ever the 7 h/c has gone round in 77 gross (par 71) but we have managed to knock out a very good pair to much surprise in the clubhouse afterwards. My god I love this game.

Band... nah, better not

Congratulations funkyfred some good scoring there. I'm just a decent round on the greens from going low.

Very good luck in the next round :D
