Thinking of just going to Royal Liverpool to watch a practice day. Any thoughts as to what might be the best day to go to reap the benefits of better access to following the best golfers around?

I would suggest the Tuesday. In my experience some of the top players don't show up on the Wednesday, preferring to practise their putting and short game away from the gaze of the public.

Wednesday, 'they' are all there and all play, plus the atmosphere just hours before the event is electric. I always go the last practice day.

I went to the Tuesday practice this year. I think its the best day to go and the majority of the players are going to be there. I got to see almost everyone of the big stars the only person i didnt see was Adam Scott. Was great to sit at the range aswell defo worth going too.

Tuesday.........generally very few top players around on the Wednesday.

what Open do you go to?
what do you think they are doing the day before a Major they all crave? having manicures, interviews, sightseeing, going to the pictures:rofl:

I've been to every Open held in Scotland for as long as I remember, and the Wednesday. I cant remember ever not seeing all the 'stars'....apart from last year when Tiger went out at Stupid o clock to practice but that was me being late.

Do you folk that say 'everyones not there Wednesday' have any insight or is it just hearsay? I'm ok if I'm mistaken but I honestly cant remember any 'star' not being there on the eve of the oldest and most revered tournament in the world!

I always go on the Tuesday (have been on all the days) as I've heard (and seen) that a lot of the players tend to only do 9 holes etc.. on the Wednesday ( apparently Big Phil hardly ever goes out on the Wednesday). But I'd say about 99% of the players are all there.

I felt that the players are more approachable on the Tuesday as well, they seem more relaxed with the crowd and have some banter as well.

Which ever day you go, you'll enjoy it.
