As a new regular commuter up and down the M3 (pretty much from one end of it to the other), I'm trying to find the best place for regular practice. For me, it has to be somewhere that I can use in the dark (after or before work in the winter months at least) and not too much of a jaunt away from the motorway. Ideally, I'd like to be practicing off grass rather than mats and I'd like to spend at least as much time on my short game as I do on the distance stuff.

So far, I've settled on Pine Ridge as the most convenient driving range, but that is largely because it is floodlit and later in the year when the evenings are lighter, I'm hoping to find somewhere else - for variety if nothing else.

I'm thinking Dummer might be a good option once the light improves.

So, there's plenty of people on here from that area - where do you go? Where would you recommend?

Cheers.

I'm a Pine Ridge regular - their chipping area is smaller than a sixpence though, not great for your short game. There's a nice chipping area at Hoebridge golf club in Old Woking - about 25 mins from the M3. Also, there is Blue Mountain in Binfield, again 25mins from the M3 in the opposite direction to Woking... not sure what it's like in rush hour to get there though!

Where are you based? Local to Woking?

I'm afraid not, I live at the other end of the M3 - near Winchester. I'm looking for something which is no more than 10 minutes off the M3 really - it needs to be a quick hop on the way to or from work, not a trip for its own sake.
