my natural shot is quite high and spiny, I am looking for a new low spin ball to help me out.

What do you guys use or recommend?

Welcome to the forum.

Whilst you could try and find a piece of plastic coated concrete and hope to get a difference the reality is that you would be better off getting a pro to look at your current set up and swing, then clubs, then last of all the ball.

It can make a difference but it won't make that much.

What ball do you currently use? Which irons?

Currently using Taylormade Areoburner pro ball and Taylormade R9 TP irons.
I have a had lessons and do play evenings with the club pro and he was the one that suggest a change of ball.

The ball is an extreme, designed to fly high but with relatively low spin ie in itself it's not a spin issue.

I have a set of R9TP irons, and although they flew higher than my RBZTour irons (with the same shafts) they aren't high launch.

So, I would start by trying any 'normal' ball. Even better I would try a few and see what happens. Personally I think the E6 referenced above is an excellent ball and worth trying, then the obvious ProV1s and Srixon Z Star to give a range.

'The ball' is probably the last place to look at if you are really having issues with too much spin! Especially if you are already playing with a relatively low spin ball! I suspect you Pro may have been approaching it from a 'least change for some improvement' point of view and you may be assigning too much emphasis/hope on that solution!

And you really need to define what 'too much spin' is! Are you getting so much spin that you are getting a 5-iron to zip back on a shot into the green? Or do your Chip and Run shots 'Chip and Stop' (as opposed to simply being short) all the time?

Or is it simply that your shots seem to go very high? This can be quite an illusion, as the player rarely sees the real flight as well as someone standing nearby but to the side so the flight looks higher than it really is!

If you really are getting too much spin - so either the ball balloons, then falls out of the sky (something more like an exponential shape as opposed to a parabolic one if you want a graphical comparison!), or the problem is really 'sidespin' - then there are more fundamental (and better) ways to address the problem - and a PGA Coach is the guy to sort those issues out!

Oh and welcome (to the madhouse) btw!

The ball does balloon up and then I get next to no extra run on even with a driver, the distance isn't always a problem as even with the height my 5 iron will so go 180-185.

And what a great madhouse house it !

Forgot to mention....

If by chance you have an adjustable Driver, try cranking it down a degree (or more). Be aware that you might find that your slice/hook is exaggerated by doing so, so crank it back a bit.

That's more than enough distance for a 5-iron! I was actually talking about what happens when you hit the green!

A session with a Launch Monitor (or a Pro's experienced eye!) could help.

E6 is a pretty good ball imo. Don't get too attached to it though...Bridgestone are withdrawing from the UK market, so these will probably disappear!!
