Having had a cracking summer this year and having played some top 100 courses this year I had some thoughts on the best greens I have played this year.

Best greens for me this year. St Annes old links.

And to think it isn't in the top 100 in England!

Fast and so true and all the greens were all the same speed and quality. A real joy

Parkstone or Muirfield, hard to choose between them as they were both excellent

Ive played about 20 different courses this year and I'd also have to say that the best greens I've putted on were at St Annes old links.

For out and out quality this year the greens at Golf du Château are incredible and extremely tough to score well on if like me you find it hard sometimes to read the nap/grain, but for consistency then Le Touessrok has its greens to the same superb standard all year & a tad easier to play on

Edit: But I only have half a dozen courses to choose from

Easy for me, the greens at West Hill GC during the H4H day, were by far the best greens I've played on. Smooth, running true absolutley superb.

Probably East Berks (except the 3 they have relaid).

EDIT: Foxhills (Longcross Course) weren't too shoddy either.

Best this year are probably Hawkstone's Championship course, or the Hotchkin @ Woodhall Spa.

For me probs be Northumberland golf club week after open qualifer was there it lashed down day before as well and they still were silly fast

I have to say my own course - Donnington Grove - has had the best greens this year I have played and I have played a lot of good tracks fortunately this year. :) Some for the greens in le Touquet were a close second... They are superb at the moment but in the mid summer they were just unbelievably quick and true (pity the bunkers are crap!) . The Japanese spent millions on them when they owned the club and being sand based etc just makes them very versatile and we never go on temporaries even in the winter. West Hill's were v good yesterday and The Oxfordshire were ok but not quite top 5. Playing Frilford Heath next week and Hanbury Manor the week after renowned for being a decent "Jack" track so we'll see.

Played Donnington in march this year on the weekend of the snow  Only got to play the front 9 twice but even then the greens held up really well. Fortunately they gave us a free round in may because of the march weather and the greens were superb, very true and very fast.

Parkstone for me. The greens there have been excellent for the last two years. Scary fast if you are the wrong side of the hole but will still hold a ball if properly struck.

Played there is April and they were the worse greens I can remember playing on. When did you play there Hawkeye ?

Best greens for me would be the Beawood Lakes The Berkshire and Coombe Hill. West Hill's were not bad for October.

Prince's was playing great when I played (the day after the Amateur championships), Bearwood was a close second for lush greens though)

Still not found any as good as ours at Ealing which have probably averaged over 11 on the stimp this year and remained unbelievably true.

Remedy Oak's were nice, if a little wet earlier in the year and Northwood's greens have finally started to get to a very decent level after A LOT of time and money has been invested.

Other than those, Desert Springs in Spain were pretty immaculate, as indeed was the rest of the course.

The Hotchkin greens have been so smooth and true this year they have been fantastic, I just chose St Annes old links by a fraction as they was faster and as true

Best for me this year was Wychwood Park. The greens were exceptional!

Adverseley, this was the course with the worst kept bunkers!

I haven't played the Hawkstone Course at Hawkstone Park yet this year. The greens there are generally excellent.

Remedy's seem to be going downhill whenever I play there, when it first opened they were lovely but nowhere near as good now. Pity as they let a very good course down :(
