best gps devices???

I'm in the market for one (who am I kidding, I've been looking all year) and just seen the SkyCaddie Linx Vue. That looks like an awesome watch as you can pair it with a phone app and get the best of distances on your watch and graphic hole overviews on your phone.

Skycaddie aire 2? Heard good reviews about that .

Its only for distances to greens. That is all i used my bushnell v2 for

It's the best seller in Pro shops up & down the country and is always guaranteed to be up to date with any course changes

Will depend on your budget and what you want

The Golfbuddy ones are good

Sky caddies are good but on some models you need to pay a yearly subscription

Garmin Watches are highly rated

I have a Garmin S1, the most basic. No issues with battery life and it is marvellous. New models offer more, hazards etc, it depends how sophisticated you want it to be.

I like the simplicity of a watch. I can be walking to my ball, glance at my watch just before I come to a halt and so know my yardage and am ready to go straight away.

I have a Garmin Approach S1 that I picked up for about £70. Very basic with distances to the centre of the green only. I didn't think I would be able to play with a watch but I am used to it now. I have played 27 holes with no battery issues.

I've got the Garmin G6, comes with a karabiner and a clip to attach to your bag, but is probably small enough to go in your pocket.

Graphic overview of each hole, moveable cursor on screen so you can scope out distances to hazards, dog-legs etc, and you can move the flag on the green close up to get a more precise distance.

Does everything I need it to, and a typical round uses 30-40% of the battery charge.

Here ya go ^^^^ saves me typing .. no subscription , no need to upload courses , free updates 2 or 3 times a year, lightweight , touch screen etc ... everything you will need
10/10

If you're looking at the top of the range ones, one of the golf mags did a comparison between Garmin G8 (illegal for comps), Skycaddie Touch (annual subs & unresponsive touch screen), Golfbuddy PT4 (not the best battery life, but bigger screen). All of them had their downsides but the Golfbuddy looked to be the best around the £300 price range, there was virtually no difference in the yardages provided by the units as well.

Can you elaborate on this please?

There will be one of these for sale on here in the next week😃

The article said that the touchscreen was not as responsive as the other ones on the test and that there was a bit of a lag or that it sometimes needed a couple of taps to work.

That was an initial problem with the very early releases on the new Touch, like all very new devices in any marketplace the odd gremlin can occur, this has now been resolved and a sync update was issued, as soon as any gremlins are reported it's looked into and a fix is written and announced, we had another 1 recently after some reports but were very quick to respond and fix any bugs.

Unfortunate timing for the magazine test then, as the issue could have put people of buying it based on the review
