What are the best tips you have had from the experts? Either on line or in books and mags. One great tip I read was on this forum was from Bobmac, it worked wonders for me. I was topping wedge shots and hitting balls into bunkers that I was trying to chip over. I still do occasionally, but far less now.

He said imaging a piece of string stretched out just 6 ins above the ground and try to hit the ball underneath the string with your wedge.

It was great tip and had the effect of letting the loft do the work rather than trying to lift the ball with my wrist action. So thanks for that Bob

I know it's an old cliché but I do still try to putt to within a dustbin lid around the hole on long putts and always have done.

"Swing with ease in the breeze!" Hit it hard only generates more spin which is no good into a gale.

I was reading some of Tom Watson's tips in last Months mag which was interesting. He still swings it great at his age and its just so simple, effortless and not overly complicated. Keeping it simple is a good tip for all of us perhaps? KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid!) ;)

Best tip I was ever given was by the junior captain when I played my first competition aged 11.

"I'm bigger & better than you and hit the ball further than you, don't try to compete, it'll just ruin your game."

I use that little piece of advice too. Really helped my short game...

Also, someone really clever once said "It's Dancin, not Wrestlin." Helps when I'm trying too hard to smash the ball..

Keep it smooth and take a club more.

An alternative to that is, "hit it as hard as you can without losing your balance. Otherwise what's the point in getting CF'd for stiff shafts and then hitting it easy?"

From my Grandad......Play wi the heid son, it's the best wood in the bag.
From my Uncle.........Swing with balance, like you are wearing dancing shoes on a polished dance floor.
From my Dad...........You will never become a good golfer if you can't putt.
From my Daughter....Just accept that you are crap now and enjoy the game.

There's some good'uns at the end of Leslie Nielson's "Bad Golf Made Easier" in fact there are good tips all the way through!

"Unless you're already bald, never use the comb in the blue fluid"
"Never take lessons from your father, never teach your wife to play golf, and never play your son for money!"

Pick a target as small as possible and concentrate on it, then just hit it.
Strange how well it works to be honest. I keep swing thoughts and adjustments on the range so I can trust my swing on the course. When I start to think about the swing in a round it all goes Pete Tong in a big way!
