I live in Hampshire and generally play the local clubs including Paultons, Hamptworth, chilworth, South Winchester, Royal Winchester etc. We have a special four ball once a year where we try out different courses across country. This year we went to play Brabazon and PGA at Belfry which was certainly an experience! Also played Trevose, St Mellion, The Vale, East Sussex national, any thoughts for where to go next year! Already looking at St Pierre or Celtic Manor! Any thoughts welcomed..

Woburn and Celtic Manor with accommodation are certainly worth a look.

However, if you decide on Woburn, you may want to stay in The White House B&B about 2 minutes drive. Awesome value at £60 per room (think all are twins) and a great breakfast. Nice pub and restaurant in the same village.

If you are looking for a hotel complex type thing, Forest of Arden or Hawkstone Park. If you don't mind a hotel near some courses, anywhere around Southport. If its a there and back in a day, Little Aston near Sutton Coldfield.

I managed to get 5 days of Golf out of 7 days spent at Les Bordes about 10 years ago. The Wife was happy mainly basking in the sunshine while I played. Got my name in 'The Golden Book' for going round with the same ball one of the days too! The shot over water to the 18th with adrenalin buzzing was the some feeling!

In UK, there are plenty of high quality experiences available, depending on exactly what give the approprite 'buzz'. Best summer day's golf for me is still a round on the Red, Lunch and a round on the Blue at The Berkshire! Two lovely courses, justy the right lengths for a day! Sunningdale is a great experience, but actually a bit tiring for the 36 holes. Swinley Forest is also a wonderful day, but the 2 different courses of Berkshire wins - as would Walton Heath, except for the price. For a single course St Georges Hill or Hankley Common challenge Swinley. The Open courses are great once, but not 'good value' imo! Though there can be 'bargains' in March at Royal St Georges - as at a few others!

Good heavens, there's a lot of stunning golf courses/days about!

And for the really best value, A day at Camberley Heath or one of the 'lesser' heathland courses (Blackmoor?) is actually very hard to beat!

I don't know what your budget is but 36 holes at Sunningdale is worth every penny. Both courses are always in fantastic condition and will test all aspects of your game.

Forget any doubts you have that the club may be too stuffy as all of the staff there are helpful and friendly. The food is legendary too!

Another 2 courses that aren't too far apart but are wonderful are Hindhead and Liphook. Both have greens to die for and Hindhead has a front 9 that is jaw dropping. Enjoy!:)

St Pierre is not special at all, its nice but no better than some of the courses you've already played. Forest Of Arden is better.
Woburn is brilliant.

No need to go far, look at Bournemouth. You have Parkstone, Ferndown, Broadstone, Isle of Purbeck and Remedy Oak right on your doorstep. All have featured in the UK top 100 at some point. Combine that with some great pubs and restaurants in town and you have the makings of a great trip
