Hi all,
Thinking of trading in my tm tour burner irons.
For some more forgiving game improvement irons

What do you guys recommend?

I traded my tour burners for burner 09 (1.0) in some places found them much more forgiving last season.
Lots of clubs in this category a trip to AG or similar to have a good look sounds like an idea.

One of the easiest answers I will ever have the opportunity of giving. Ping g20's honestly you will never look back.

Depends whether you believe in hearsay or scientific research. (Yawn, yawn, sorry chaps).

Callaway X16/18/20

Ping G5/10/15/20 or K15

Even the JPX 800s have finally got into GI category, although I hear stories about incorrect ratings....(?)

Even Titleist AP1 are pretty GI.....amazing with it......

Cobra S3 Max (apparently the old S9 are good too)

That's about it.

I've hit most of these......the Ping K15s are ludicrously easy to hit.

X22s are around for £350 at AG probably.

Bet no one else says these but I've gone through and tested a lot of clubs and the Yonex nanospeed irons are
Amazing, they feel so sweet and are so forgiving, a very easy set of clubs to use.

A question I have.. What makes an iron a game improvement iron? Is it just the added forgiveness or does it mean you can improve your shot shaping and all round ball striking?

of the 4 sets I have had as a beginner I hit my titleist 775's the best, they are probably the least forgiving so work that one out!

go and hit as many as you can is my advice (for what its worth :) )

.

I wouldn't say that, personally I love them but some would struggle to hit them. (I'm talking about the Normal JPX's and the Pro's expecially). However there are the JPX 800 HDs which have a much thicker head but they go like stink.

Added forgiveness on off centre hits - meaning it won't necessarily improve your ball striking because you don't need to.
Extra offset making it fly straighter - meaning it's harder to shape shots.
Wider sole - meaning you can get away with (to a degree) hitting the ground before the ball.

All of this to me would put me off. Apart from the fact I couldn't stand looking down at one at address, how do I get better if all manner of shoddy hits will go where I want them to?

Having said that, that's just me and the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.

A mate of mine bought G20's about a month ago, and 2 weeks ago had a PB in a comp of 76 (+4) playing off 13.

I would recomend the g20 my friend who plays of 17 he loves them and like religion friend we played a round and he was one under on the front 9 and carded 3+ at the end of the game but even when he plays bad he says his irons are his saftey shots
