Just out of interest because I'm climbing the walls.

We all have club championships to find out who's the best golfer in our club but have we ever had a forum championship to find out who's the best on the forum?

Not that it matters of course. ;)

How many scratch golfers are there on the forum? I want to know who's the best golfer on here, but im sure even the top players are too modest to come forward and say 'I'm the best'.

Whilst I may be the best looking member, I regret that my lack of Golfing prowess means that I feel unable to put my name forward for this award.

I realise that this will shock many readers and i hope you get over it quickly....

.....Oh you have

I'm sure a few folk on here have contemplated the idea of playing regional matchplays, moving onto national (Eng/Scot/Ire/Wales), then leaving some super-meet to decide on who's the best.
It would be good, but almost impossible to arrange (some poor person would have to meet another person halfway between lands end and J.O'G)
Even if we did it, if an 18 h'cap beat a 5 h'cap over 18 holes matchplay, I don't think there'd be much bragging rights..
or am I wrong?

Working out a "gross" winner ought to be easy....best proper competition round of the year.
Working out the nett (h'cap comp) would be more controversial...if my net 67 got beat by a nett 65 from a beginner, who'd be the best?

Best golfer was possibly that bullshiter that was on here from the IOM....can't mind the guys name but he hated cavity's,hybrids shorts etc but used 460cc drivers, pro v's etc despite bleating on about the 'real game etc'.....claimed he was off plus three to begin with then lo and behold he claimed plus 1.....my erse!

how du want to define best ...bobmac`s a pro so he get`s ma vote or does it have to be a am ..if so is it the lowest h`cap ,but that doesn`t mean he or she is the best player !! i`ve seen guys coming to play in the links trophy at st.andrews, normally +1 gets balloted out and some of these guys couldn`t hit a cows a-se we a banjo ...take i.o.m for example..dodgy to say the least

The Goswick Massive of IMO2, Screwback and Dodger seem to have a monopoly on the lowest handicaps, must be something in the water in Northumberland. IMO2 is lowest off 0.8 I believe so probably the best player who regularly posts here.

I don't know why they bother talking to us, we're not worthy! ;)

Because they’re all fannies and we’re the only one's who'll talk to them. :p

Would have to be gross to find the best golfer. I't would be fun but as you say not very practical.
