Who are the best 3 footballers of your generation? Pele,Maradona & Cruyff are before my time so for me it's-
1) Zidane- best player ever for me.
2)Ronaldo (Brazil)
3)Ronaldinho-whilst at Barca he was quality.

I guess it depends how long your generation is. For me;

George Best
Pele
Johan Cruyff

But more recently;

Dennis Bergkamp
Thiery Henry
Lionel Messi

Not necessarily of my "generation", but of the players I have seen during my lifetime-

1) Gianfranco Zola; fantastic player and a great person off the pitch, unlike many.
2) Lionel Messi; unbelievable skills and incredible balance
3) Didier Drogba; most complete centre forward I have ever seen.

As a young kid I can remember Cruyff, Pele was pretty much at the end of his career by then. So probably

1) Maradonna
2) Messi

Can't decide on 3rd, shortlist includes Cantona, Gazza, Zidane, Ronaldo.......

Maradona.
Van Basten.
Matthaus.

I would pay good money to see them playing against todays footballers.....

Similar but I'd have Gullit in place of Matthaus.

Sadly I was just too young to see Dalglish at his peak, would love to include a Scotsman!

Post PL crop would be Messi, Ronaldo (fat Brazilian one) and Bergkamp.

Good call with Gullit. I'm probably a bit biased as my dear old mum's German. It was all I could do to not include Gerd Muller, seeing as he's a very distant relative...:D

Quite a footballing family connection! Closest I can get is my uncle was a manager of a few Junior clubs in Fife and my grandad played for Aberdeen (hence the support) many, many moons ago.....

How's the arm coming along? You bought those G10's yet? Just give me a shout when I can collect those Cobras.... :)

Without a shadow of doubt, the best player I've ever seen play football is George Best.

Best goalscorer - Jimmy Greaves

Best goalscoring midfielder - Bobby Charlton

Best midfielder - Paul Gascoine

Best defender Bobby Moore

Best Goalkeeper - Gordon Banks

Foreign players:

Pele - Brazil

Tostao - Brazil

Jordi Cruyff - Holland

Gerd Muller - Germany

Gunther Netzer - Germany

Eusebio - Portugal

That'll do for now! :)

Fixed for you

The Op did ask for "Your Generation".

Apart from Paul Gascoine, all my choices were from my youth.

But yes, I would say Zidane, as a "Foreigner", was the best creative and goalscoring midfielder.
Good choice!
I am the Op & I'm only joking mate. No right or wrong answer

Eddie Gray

Billy Bremner

Alan Clarke / Tony Currie

And lest not forget Keith Houchen for the fantastic penalty for York City that beat Arsenal

Lineker - superb predator
Shilton - as a keeper watching him during a game was an education not just the shot stopping
Hoddle - such an exquisite eye for a pass. Watched him play for England and he hardly moved more than 10 yards all game but ran the show
