Playing with mates last Wednesday at Silvermere Golf Complex, on the 17th a Par 3 over water he proceeded to top one into the drink. He blamed the bad shot on a rain drop running off his hat and into his eyes before asking for a mulligan.

Whats the best excuse you have heard for a bad shot?

I had one the other day, when i was practicing a putt next to the ball and a bee flew around my head and i was watched it whilst performing my putting stroke and i hit the ball by accident off 90 degrees to the right lol

Not so much an excuse for a bad shot but for a bad performance.
A friend had 20 S/F points on the front 9 and 8 on the back. When quizzed, he replied 'my clubs got tired' :D

A few years back in a medal a mate of mine shot 124. His excuse - "I couldn't hit the ball today". Sorry Mate, that's the one thing you could do today - more than anyone else!!

One of my playing partners, whom we are trying to drop for several reasons comes up with loads of crackers.

His wife annoyed him at breakfast - we played at 2pm

When duffing them off the 1st tee he invariably blames the potential of noise coming from the clubhouse.

When he thinned his drive the other week he said "that was a brilliant swing, I just didn't quite make contact with the ball properly"

When he snap hooks the ball it "had just a bit too much draw on it"

18 holes with him can drive you mad!

In a team comp. at a golf society day a few weeks ago, my partner carved a huge drive into the trees of the third tee.... he strove off down the fairway, calling back in aloud voice..........I have a cunning plan. we fell about. He did too, punched a 7 iron just short of the green through a gap only he could see, then chipped in for a birdie!
What a partner.

I was playing a medal with my mate and a guy who worked for British Rail. It was in September/October and the trees were bare and we couldnt find his ball in the fairway and my pal said

'Sorry for the delay. It is due to the wrong leaves on the track'

The old ones are the best...
I'm a lot better usually, I just dont get btime to play as much as I used to.
This course just doesn't suit my game. (we played off 28... so how can a course not suit his game?)
My best excuse is my bad knee, but it only seems to hurt when I blob a hole?

Played with a guy who will slice one OB,then say it was not a slice just a controlled fade but i aimed the wrong way

Regular 120+ round and not one shot is his fault

'Great shot just wrong direction'

A guy I played with a few years ago left his putt on the edge of the hole and turnd to us and said "the grass kept that one out" We wondered what else would of kept it out!
