Unfortunately my email provider is o2, who sold the webmail arm of their business to Sky in 2013.
They have maintained their servers for those who migrated to Sky, but yesterday the system went down and only came back around lunchtime today.
o2 blamed Sky, Sky blamed o2 and neither seemed to give a damn!
So ............... I'm now looking for a new email provider.
All suggestions will be very welcomed and, as soon as I'm sorted, I'll go about binning Sky altogether!

Cheers all,

Slime.

Many years ago I had to keep changing ISPs due to poor service. As it didn't depend on any particular ISP, I switched my email to Live Mail and this has served me well since - easy to set up and use.

If you want an email that is independent of your ISP then Outlook.com, or Gmail are the places to go

Hotmail is still going strong, but a hotmail account is seen as a bit old fashioned

personally im with Gmail

Gmail is getting a lot of votes, I think I'll look into that.
I'm assuming it's easy to set up for use with Thunderbird and I'm hoping I could have several different email addresses.
Also, would there be a way of changing the domain name from @gmail.com to, say, @slime.com?

definitely worth looking at gmail. Gets you so much more than just email. App is simple for mobile devices. Access via desktop is easy and quick. Interfaces are clean and more advanced options such as filtering etc are easy to set up.

Gmail has been good so far, you can do a fair bit of extra stuff with it if you get under the hood a little.

The problem is that I'm pretty stupid!
If I'm to shift from o2 to Gmail, it'll have to be absolutely idiot proof!
Exactly how easy is it? I have five current email addresses.
