Hi

I have 2 drivers - Ping G2 with Reg shaft, and a Benny with stiff shaft. The stiff shaft aint producing the goods of late, so I've been using the trusty (I use the term loosely) Ping. Trouble is, the Ping has seen better days and has some interesting battle scars.

My local shop is doing the TM R7 Limited for £119, which seems a bargain. Has anyone come across any other good deals on decent drivers recently? My budget is around the £150 mark.

Cheers

I got the Cobra S9-1 driver for christmas for 199euros, about £160. I suppose that would have gone down since then.
Fantastic driver...as you expect it goes very long! :D

I have to say I like my R7 Ltd and it was only usurped by the TM TOur Burner for £79 and is on stand-by if the Burner misbehaves. They were retailing originally around the £240 mark and so it represents a good buy in my book. It is quite a light driver and so it gets a lot of clubhead speed which was good for me. Try it and see. You may be pleasantly surprised.

If you don't like it why not look around for some G5's or even G10's going cheap. I'm not sure they are too disimilar to your current model

I can't speak highly enough of the R7 limited. My drives are straighter and longer, (mostly). I can now keep up with my mates for distance and even out driving them sometimes.

At £119 it's a bargain. Will your pro tape it up for you to try out during a friendly round?

Golfmmad.

I use a G10 and would recommend that although i would urge you to try as many as poss before you buy which makes buying 2nd hand a little bit harder.

Nike dymo STR8 fit. £97. Best driver I have ever hit. Not the best sounding, or looking (not that it is ugly), but it goes.

Happy with my 2009 Cleveland Launcher - get the right shaft and its as good as anything else out there and they can be picked up new for 100 quid.

What ever you do get out there and hit whatever you fancy for some time before putting your hand in your wallet. The second hand racks are full to bursting with other peoples mistakes. My philosophy is to find one I like, then wait a few weeks and pick one up second hand thus saving a few bob in the process. When it comes to golf clubs let someone else make the first purchase and save a fortune.
If you do fancy second hand check this site out. I have not used them but I know people who have and say they are really good.

Got myself one of these just after Christmas too, lovely driver. Picked mine up from AG. First they said £199, then mentioned it had been superceded so dropped to £120. They only had one that had been used for 1 round, they offered me for £90, then part exchanged my old Cobra LDF driver for another £30 off, so ended up paying £60 for it, that's what I call a good bargain

How about a lesson first?

Boring!!
Shell out and hit it
;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

This is generally my approach! My G2 has pretty much had it, so need a new one. A lesson might not be a bad idea though, but need a club to swing first ;)

Thanks for the link to the second hand golf website - looks good. Also found this website - looks ridiculously cheap! Anyone bought from there before?

Titleist 905R. Can pick them up on ebay for silly prices and it is still one of the best drivers out there. It is still being played on tour which shows its longevity.

Just gone back to one from the 907D2 and am bombing it.
