Bernhard Langer.

I don't think it's as daft as it sounds. He would make an excellent 4ball or foursomes partner for a rookie. Lots of pars in the 4ball allowing a younger guy to cut loose a bit and very steady in the 4somes where with proper planning of the holes he could be very effective.

I'd be surprised if he was picked but I wouldn't be shocked.

Would be a no for me - possible vice captain though

Totally disagree with those saying it is a bad idea. He is a world class player and has a great record with an unshakeable winning mentality. He also has a huge amount of experience. I'd much rather see him playing if in form over some bloke who is 10th in the money list and a complete RC rookie. It would also be a great story.

I think it would be great for the game if Langer or someone similar for that matter got a pick. Interested that a few people don't think seniors can't be competitive over 18 holes of matchplay when a good few of them have been in big strokeplay events over the years. A lot of the guys on the seniors tour could still be competitive on main tours, they could also teach Tiger a lesson or two off the tee, probably give Dustin Johnson a chipping lesson and show Rory and Adam Scott how to putt. The rest of there game isn't too shabby either.

if all of that were true, tiger would of dominated for over a decade and these old boys wouldn't be on the senior tour. Whilst I think it's a nice idea, I don't see any captain brave eniugh to pick someone for a little run of form on the seniors.

Another thing to note is the courses are more than likely set up easier for these old boys, majority of them hitting it shorter these days so the set up will account for this.

Its a level playing field for them playing against each other but on a Ryder cup course set up to be tough then its a different ball game playing against the younger lads.

Competitive versus the old guys round 6500 yard tracks with shaved fairways and watered greens, different game to the one theyre playing on tour these days. Nice thought but not a chance he competes at the very top level, thats why he takes the easy option and fills his boots week in week out on the champions tour

Did you see Langer's 365yard drive today? 9 iron into a par 5.

I think we should stop this discussion before someone mentions Monty being picked.:

Didn't Langer finish in the top ten in the Masters earlier this year. Personally think he would not be a bad pick.

Yeah but its still 50-60 yrds shorter than the one Rory hit at the scottish open(iirc) and even Faldo has managed a 370 yrd drive(possibly the same place) and he hits it like a girl.

That's not really a fair comparison as Rory is one of the longest players out there and was hitting it 50 yards past most of the field. Anyway it's not length that's important, it's where you put your approach shots that matters.
