This guy has just been freed after being held captive by the Taliban for nearly 5 years. He's now in an American Hospital where reports say he's too traumatised to speak English, his father addressed him in Arabic or whatever language they speak in Afghanistan.
Can't imagine what they've done to him, twisted his mind. It sounds like a real life incident of the TV drama Homeland. Hope he finds peace with his mental health and doesn't have any post traumatic trauma.
The armed forces are real heroes and do a fantastic job.

I'm not sure where you got that info, but I saw him addressing a press conference in English earlier today. They did say his parents can't flood him with emotion and time and conversation, as it would be too much to take in. The press reported it using the example of a diver de-compressing from a deep dive - he has to slowly get back to normality, not just go straight back to how it once was!

I think the reports said he hadn't spoken English for 5 years, bit different.

Glad he's been released
