Bit of a self indulgent thread, but I was lucky enough to be given the keys to a 60th Anniversary Conti GT last weekend to whisk my new wife away to Calcot Manor in the Cotswolds for a few days after our wedding (it's a long story as to how this was possible, but I can bore someone if they want to hear!!)

I can categorically say, it's the nicest car I've ever driven. A superb feat of engineering...oh and by golly it's quick...I mean really quick.

Just had to share!

Sounds like a top wk end that pal. I did a track day last yr & drove a Ferrari 458,only got to do 3 laps tho. After that I was the passenger in a Ariel Atom, seriously that made the Ferrari feel like a milk float. Then I went home & got in my Renault van :(

It's a little bit scary that anything so heavy can move so bleeding quick. A family member has a Audi S8, not quite as heavy as the Bentley but its scary how quick it can move for a 4 door saloon.
Why sort of MPG do your little jaunt deliver?

They did a drag race on 5th gear between Audi S8 & R8. S8 blitzed it. Got to be one of the best all round cars.

VERY scary. A lot of fun though...cruising at 115mph feels like about 75! Had to keep an eye on that. Was getting a generous 17mpg :D

I did some travelling in America last year and rented a new mustang, beautiful to drive and incredibly fast, mind the roads in America are pants.

Came back to my 1litre toyota yaris... :(

I had 3 laps in a Gallardo last year but wish I'd gone for the Atom, there wasn't enough straight track to wind the Gallardo up whereas the Atom is quicker off the mark, might have a blast later this year.

Nice area around Calcot, I know it well. Hope you managed a pint in the 'Hunters Hall' and a game at Minchinhampton Old Course' :)

I know someone who isn't particularly happy with his - not the 60th Annivthough.

Apparently engine has been out 4 times to fix various problems and there's still tho occasional weird failure - minly electrical! And irks have stolen the 'B' emblems on the wheels a few times too!

Wonderful sound though!

No need to rush with all that. I only live 15 miles down the road :D

To be honest, the chap that owns the car has a stable of about 10 cars and has a few quid, so I’m sure repair bills are the least of his worries, though he uses it as his “every day” car (when he’s not in his Chelsea Tractor), and I’ve never heard him complain about reliability – He actually gave me the choice of any of his cars to borrow, which included a Ferrari 458, Aston Martin Vantage, two Jaguar E-Types to name a few…I wanted the Aston but practicality got the better of me because we needed to drop all of our stuff from the wedding back at home on the way to Calcot Manor. I’ve made a deal that I can take the Aston away for a week for our 1 year anniversary though :D

My dream car. When I win the lottery that will be one of my first purchases.

Just don’t expect it to handle like a sports car. It’s quick…but because it’s such a beast, it doesn’t like cornering at high speeds all that much. But I would buy one in a heartbeat. It was a beautifully classy car.

Used to get the chance of driving an early Mulsanne turbo... Unbelievably bad throttle lag but when the power arrived at the rear wheels WOW! The rear end would drop and you'd be staring at the sky as almost three tons of metal was being propelled forward at a great rate of knots... Always put a smile on my face... Happy days...

Totally impressive watching the Bentley on Top Gear doing a rally stage, the cars not only a luxury tourer, sports car but seeing that on Top Gear the car was also capable off road!
