Went down the local golf shop to try a mini driver, guy in the shop recommended I had a hit with a couple of drivers to see how they went.

Had a hit with a Benross was very surprised, very nice club to hit was just a bit longer than the mini but a nice controlled flight too.

Anyone use these clubs how do you find them?

Not had a hit with one, but we do have one in the H4H charity auction which I am currently looking after. Hot Speed 2, 12 degrees regular shaft. Looks lovely and someone may get a bargain. Will put up auction details shortly.

I know the Benross drivers have shorter shafts (45") which certainly interests me. Can't hit a fairway at the moment. How did the SLDR mini compare to the Benross other than distance?

To be fair the mini was 12 deg, I have to say I did not think there was too much in it distance wise, the Benross was the Max one which is 14 deg and it just felt like you could not miss with a nice flight and good carry.

I guess the thing to get your head round is a 14 degree driver but then i'm only looking for something longer than my 3 wood and as consistent. Would really like a go with the 12 degree one however I have always hit the driver quite low.

Very underrated brand that goes under a lot of radars. Sadly, I've found it can be hit and miss finding places with a decent stock to try or buy but definitely worth a go. Their Pro for a day comp is pretty special too

When the wedges arrive the only thing in the bag that won't be Benross is the putter. Very underrated, but no brand kudos so get overlooked. Shafts & grips are top notch, heads cast in China, probably in the same foundry as the bigger names, 3 year guarantee and a full bag for about the same as a set of 8 irons from a branded name. A no brainer.

I will also add that when I was getting items for the H4H day, Benross were one of the most helpful abd supportive companies that I spoke to. They do look at what is going on with the Forum and love hearing stories like this of satisfied everyday golfers. If I am looking to change anything in the future then Benross is hifh on my list to try

Absolutely worth including Benross in your candidates when you're trying out drivers, I'm still using my high loft MAX driver that I was given on the GM Benross day. I actually tried out a mini-SLDR recently because I'm struggling off the tee at the moment and it was a LOT less forgiving than the Benross. (Turns out it's the player, not the club. I've got lessons booked, before anyone says anything)

Benross as a brand I've got a lot of time for, I was using their hybrids before I was chosen for the GM day. Then I was given the full set by GM & Benross, and I have to say the MAX irons have been wonderful. My Benross 7I is exactly the same loft as my old Callaway 8I, and yet it goes the same distance as the old 7I, and straighter.

Sounds ideal to me. And why worry what the loft is if it's giving you the distance and the accuracy you are after? There's no rule to say your driver has to be below 10 degrees;)

Could not agree more, just need to compare against my 3 wood to check it is longer.

One thing I would say to anyone is give a benross a hit you may well be suprised

I wanted to try Benross out on my driver search but couldn't find a nearby stockist and Benross didn't reply to the tweet I sent asking them where I could go for a fitting.:(

I use the hot speed 2 (12 deg) and it's fantastic. Looks great, long but my accuracy is so much improved! Have a reg shaft in mine so I can't swing it too hard which is keeping me in check!

It's my best buy and was a steal at £149 new!

It was so nearly the case that Hot Speed driver went in my bag instead of the Cleveland Classic XL. The performance was excellent and it was a great looking club. The main factor in me being able to change my driver was that it had to be cheap though and this was one of the few cases where Benross were undercut on price as the retailers were almost giving away the Clevelands.

Did you try this against the Max speed? really gutted I did not have a hit with a Hot while I was there

I've had the Hot Speed 2 driver, fairway and hybrid in play for the last 5 months and couldn't be happier. The heads are traditional and nice to look at, while the 12 degree driver is really forgiving. I had the Aldila Tour Blue shafts fitted to all three (these are usually found in the better player RIP models, but were put in my mid-handicap HOT models at request) and combined with Golf Pride grips offer real quality in the budget end of the market.
