Having played a few rounds now, I thought that it was time to post a few words on my new home course, a course that I have quickly fallen in love with. The course was given a place in the GM top 100 hidden gems and the place is well deserved. The course has 27 holes set in peaceful parkland with deer roaming freely around the course. Yopu would never now that you were in the middle of Grantham. The design is intelligent and thought provoking. There is rarely a hole that you can pull your driver out of the bag without thinking. Yes you can hit the big dog if you want but run the risk over over running fairways into a copse of trees ending up in tha ruthlessly placed fairway bunker or ending up in a lake. Work on the course this year has also been intelligent. Steep sloped bunkers have been added to the fourth and sixteenth greens which will suck in any sightly wayward shot. The stand out hole for me, however is the par 3 14th. A tee shot through an alley of trees to a green with severe bunkering to the front and rear. In summer it looks simply stunning.

Add ot the above superb facilities and a well stocker pro shop and you have an excellent club which you will not leave disappointed (ask Lump, Full Throttle and Viscount17 who joined me there today).

Certainly glad I main the jump, the course offers me some new challenges that should help my game. Big day tomorrow as there is a bit of a meet and greet for new members and a new members comp so big chance to find some playing partners for the coming year.

All that and with the bonus you can walk home :)

Bargain :)

What do you think of the new 9 (19-27)

To be honest I have only played it once. Seems good and the mix of shorter holes means that It is likely to be used more extensively for a quick 9 after work. At the moment I am concentrating on learning the original 18, trying a few ways of playing holes, working out which bunkers are in driver range and when it is best to drop to a 3 wood or lower. You will love the new bunkers on 4 and 16, really well designed , real 'hazards' and really add to the visual appeal round the holes.

Is the new bunker on the 16th near the green of before the water?

Top tip...don't try and cut the corner on the 13th and 15th

All the new bunkering is greenside, deep bunkers with beautifully countoured slopes into them which will catch balls and drag them in.

Too late, have tried and failed to cut both corners:(
