Belton Park Lincs

Yes. Was a members here for nearly ten years as a junior and still play it whenever I'm back in the area. Best course in Lincolnshire IMO.

Not sure which two of the three 9's is the Brownlow, but 1-18 is the ultimate combo. 19-27 is still good, but 1-18 are better.

Cheers fella. 1-18 is the Brownlow I think. Is it suitable for higher handicappers? I play to 15 so should be fine. I can break 80 on a good day but battle to break 90 the next!!! Some of the group are 20+ cappers though. Pointless going somewhere if it is too tough.
Best in Lincs more than Woodhall Spa surely not?

I love Woodhall (lived there for 6 years) but I prefer Belton Park. Try and play it in the spring or summer if you can as playing it in the winter won't do it justice off mats and winter greens.

Perfectly fine for a 15 handicapper. There are some narrow-ish drives and some testing holes but plenty of chances to let rip and not get penalised too much. It will give you a good test but not tote point that you won't enjoy it.

:mmm: Really? I cam think of at least 4 that are way better.

Praise indeed. Was thinking around end of March early April time anyway so that is perfect. I'll check before I go then that temp Tees/Greens are not in play on any holes as I hate playing on them spoils a round for me to the point where I would rather be on the practice range. Thanks for that

Stop dithering and just join! :D

Got the forms today to sign up for the month trial membership. Going to sign up for that in Feb/March and as long as I find it easy enough to pick up games at the weekend over that period then I will be signing up. Are you up over the next couple of months as I can sign people in.

I have posted about a few issues at my club over the last few months and the general concensus has been to do something about it or vote with my feet so I am off to the AGM in a couple of weeks to have my say and if I do not like the route the club is taking then I am off to try somewhere new (plus Stoke has ditched the joining fee so I can head back at no cost to me if it goes wrong. That is a double edged sword if I ever saw one)

Good to hear. Should be around at least one weekend, I'll keep you posted.

20 years since I played it but don't recall it being anything at all to write home about.

I have since then played Both Woodhalls,Seacroft and Spalding all of which had more about it than Belton.

Played Seacroft last year and it was suffering in the sun. That said, not sure that I would prefer it to Belton even if it were playing to its full potential. Not tried the others, heard good things about Spalding but may give it a try this year if I get the chance.

It's improved a lot in the last 15 years thanks to the irrigation system they installed. I think you'd have a different opinion if you played it now. Never played seacroft but it's much better than the Bracken and I can't really argue either way against the Hotchkin. As I said, I love that course, I just (slightly) prefer Belton Park.
